Jessie Ware reacts to Tough Love chart success: “I can’t believe it!”

The singer, whose previous tracks have failed to enter the Top 40, debuts on today’s Official Singles Chart Update (August 6) at Number 22.

I’ve never been in the Top 40 so this is quite surprising and excellent!” Jessie said. “Does that mean I’m in the gang? If I manage to get a Top 40 single this Sunday then that’s really cool.

“This will be a first for me,” she continued. “It feels a bit like… you can’t really touch it or see it – I can’t believe it actually.”

However, Jessie insisted that she is a “pessimist” and is unsure whether she will remain in the Top 40 for Sunday’s Official Singles Chart.

“I’m expecting the worst,” she said. “I don’t think the song is radio friendly at all! This song was just to give people a taster of what’s to come, so for it to chart is crazy and really reassuring ahead of the new album. Just wait until you hear the next single!”

Jessie recently announced details of her second studio album Tough Love, which follows her 2012 Top 5 debut Devotion.
