Icarus on the making of their euphoric single Dreams Of You: "It's the new, upbeat, happy Icarus"

The production duo have teamed up with Rae Morris on their dreamy, uplifting new track.

In case you missed it, production duo Icarus released returned earlier this month with their new track Dreams Of You; an emotional and euphoric slice of electronic dance with an inspired choice of guest feature, alt-popstar Rae Morris.

As Icarus - Bristol brothers Tom and Ian Griffiths - explain in the making of the track video, premiered below, working with Rae had long been on the cards after they worked with her on a remix of her 2017 single Do It.

"We wouldn't say we're topline writers or vocalists, but we always have ideas of what we like and what we don't like," they explain. "With someone like Rae who's so naturally good at it, it came very quickly."

Production-wise, Dreams Of You has been on quite a journey, starting out as the sound heard in the intro made in a friend's studio. Base chords were introduced some time later, before adding "soft, brassy pad sounds" to end up with the "dream-like" vibe they challenged themselves to create.  

"I feel like we've nailed what we hoped to nail," they said, adding the song is "the perfect intro to where we're going" on the next Icarus project. Watch the full making of video below:
