Goosebumps scaring off competition on Official Video Chart Update

The children's horror spin-off is leading the pack at the midweek stage.

Jack Black's latest children's horror movie Goosebumps is spooking out its fellow new releases on the Official Video Chart.

Based on R. L. Stine's classic spooky stories, 50,000 copies have been shifted at the halfway point, a scary 30,000 units ahead of the Number 2 entry this week, Snoopy and Charlie Brown - The Peanuts.

This week's Number 3 is also a new entry - Ride Along 2 starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. Potentially capping off the Top 5 are Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hateful Eight, both up two places to Numbers 4 and 5.

New entries and high climbers

In preparation for its long awaited sequel released soon, Independence Day returns to the Top 200 to Number 9 this week, and Bobby Charlton story Bobby is new at 12. Michael Caine film Youth is also new at 19, as is the animated Capture the Flag at 20.

Mad Max: Fury Road races up the chart by 15 places (27) and Straight Outta Compton floats seven places higher to 33. Finally, The Man from Uncle vaults 59 places to this week's Number 39.
