The six acts hoping to represent the UK at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest have been named -  and there's a good chance you might recognise a few of them.

This year's entry will be chosen on Friday, January 27 on selection show Eurovision: You Decide, which will see all six acts compete to perform at the 2017 competition in Kyiv, Ukraine, which takes place between May 9 - 11.

All six of this year's hopefuls you may recognise from The X Factor, though each have reached various stages of the competition.

Hosted by Mel Giedroyc, the 90-minute UK Selection show called Eurovision: You Decide will be broadcast live on BBC Two at 7.30pm from London's Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith. As well performances from all six hopefuls, 2009 Eurovision winner Alexander Rybakong will perform his song Fairytale, and The Vamps will sing their hit single All Night.

The winner will be decided by a combination of viewer votes and an eight-person jury, including three expert panelists: Strictly Come Dancing's Bruno Tonioli, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and vocal coach CeCe Sammy.

Here's who will be vying for the spot:

Danyl Johnson - Light Up The World

Danyl reached The X Factor live shows in the 2009 - the series that included Olly Murs, Jedward and was won by Joe McElderry. His track Light Up The World was written by Dan McAlister, Rick Blaskey, Greg Walker, Chris Sutherland and Ameerah Roelants.

Holly Brewer - I Wish I Loved You More

21-year-old singer and pianist Holly Brewer has also previously auditioned for X Factor. She's supported shows for Jess Glynne and McFly and cites her inspirations as Alicia Keys, Emeli Sande and Beyonce. Her entry, I Wish I Loved You More, is written by Kevin Fisher, Courtney Harrell, Laurell Barker, Mattias Frändå, Johan Åsgärde and Oliver Lundström.

Lucie Jones - Never Give Up On You

Lucie appeared on the same series of The X Factor as Danyl in 2009. Since then she's appeared in a number of musicals and even starred in an episode of Midsomer Murders. She's got some hefty songwriting talent behind her entry Never Give Up On You - it was co-written by 2013 Eurovision winner Emmelie de Forest.

Nate Simpson - What Are We Made Of

Fresh of last year's X Factor series, where he reached the Judges Houses round with Nicole Scherzinger, Nate is hoping to represent the UK this May with What Are We Made Of. The song was written by Jon Hällgren, Eric Lumiere and DWB.

Olivia Garcia - Freedom Hearts

16-year-old Olivia also reached the Judges Houses stage of last year's X Factor. Her song, Freedom Hearts, was written by Gabriel Alares, Sebastian Lestapier, Linnea Nelson and Laurell Barker.

Salena Mastroianni - I Don’t Wanna Fight

Salena appeared on the 2012 series of X Factor. She's since continued to pursue a music career, teaming up with MC Neat on Feeling Good last year and releasing acoustic covers online. Her potential Eurovision song was written by The Treatment, Nicole Blair and Marli Harwood.

Wish we were like other European countries and send an X factor winner! We'd so win if little mix or Ella Henderson entered!

its not the artist. a lot fo established artists have done at it. Its all about the song, it doesnt matter who sings it.

Loreen and Måns Zelmerlöw weren't even winners of Swedish Idol before they won Eurovision.

was it deliberate that they are all previous x-factor contestants or were the other entries really no good?

Never did any harm to Jedward and Ruth Lorenzo, both finishing in the top 10 of their respective countries.
