Dunkirk on course for the Christmas Number 1 DVD

DVDs and Blu-rays make cracking stocking fillers, and Dunkirk will be stuffing plenty this Christmas.

The war movie directed by Christopher Nolan is well in the lead to come the Christmas Number 1 DVD on today's Official DVD Chart Update, and has shifted an incredible 333,000 units in just three days. This figure means that the film, starring Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh and Harry Styles, is outselling the Top 10 combined.

Dunkirk is set to become the 6th Official Video Chart Number 1 of Christopher Nolan's directorial career following Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar. Dunkirk has already surpassed the first week sales of Batman Begins (154,000), Inception (263,000) and Interstellar (211,000), and will become his third fastest-selling home entertainment release.

Elsewhere, Micky Flanagan's An' Another Fing Live is set for a new peak of Number 2, Game of Thrones' Complete 7th Season drops to Number 3, The Hitman's Bodyguard is set for a fall of two places (4), and former Number 1 War For The Planet Of The Apes is at 5.

New entries and high climbers

Elf is set for a return to the Top 10, up two slots to Number 10, ahead of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which rises eight places to 13 in the run-up to Christmas. 

Finally, three more DVD and Blu-ray titles are set for big climbs this week: Wonder Woman has risen to six positions to Number 17, Blue Planet II is set for a climb of five rungs to Number 19, and former chart topper La La Land is also on course for a five placing ascent to Number 23.
