Rising stars Curtis Walsh & Anna Pancaldi have released the music video for their new collaboration Bend, premiering exclusively on OfficialCharts.com/Ireland.

The moving video is a compilation of faces staring towards the viewer, capturing expressions and smiles rarely seen in person over the last year as a result of the pandemic. The clip ends with a young boy removing his face mask before beaming at the camera, a hopeful image reflecting that brighter days are on the horizon.

Bend's lyrics capture the sentiment to persevere during tough times, and while we may bend, we won't break as a result of strife and heartache.

The visual's director Morgan was struck by the lyric "A hopeful heart an empty stare I'm nervous", which provided the basis for the video's poignant concept.

“When I heard this line from ‘Bend’ for the first time, I really felt how it related to everyone and the situation we find ourselves in," explained Morgan. "The simplest thing of seeing a face has been put on hold. It’s the most basic way of communicating, I’ve noticed how much more difficult it is to read people.

"It’s so hard not seeing the faces we love, and we all have hopeful hearts that this will all be over soon. I love the track, and how simple and beautiful it is, that I wanted to produce an effective message to compliment it. Bend not break."

Another takeaway from the video is that you can't always tell how someone feels on the inside just by looking at the outside: "With new lessons come new faces, but you will not learn until you see through their outer beauty," said Dubliner Walsh.

Londoner Pancaldi shares that sentiment: "The poignancy of the video feels ever so visceral, especially during a time when we have so missed seeing faces, expressions and full smiles without determining that just from people's eyes over masks. We hope this is a moment people watching can fall into and immerse themselves in our song and the beautiful people.”
