Can Waze & Odyssey’s R Kelly remix bump Meghan Trainor off the top spot?

Meghan Trainor has a fight on her hands to hold on to the Official Singles Chart Number 1 for a fourth week running, as London house production duo Waze & Odyssey’s enter at Number 2 with Bump & Grind 2014 VS R Kelly.

The track, a remix of R Kelly’s 1995 Top 10 single Bump & Grind, trails All About That Bass by just 3,000 copies midweek. The rework is not only a serious contender for this week’s top spot, but also looks set to out-perform the original, which peaked at Number 8.

If All About That Bass holds onto the Number 1 spot for a fourth week, the track will join Clean Bandit’s Rather Be FT Jess Glynne as the longest running chart-topper of the year.

Elsewhere, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud continues to ascend the chart, climbing one place today to a potential new peak of Number 3 this weekend.

Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s former chart-topper Bang Bang slides one place to 4, followed by Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off, down three places to 5.

New Entries

Other than Waze & Odyssey’s Bump & Grind 2014 VS R Kelly (Number 2), there are seven new entries in today’s Official Chart Update Top 40.

Fuse ODG is on track for his fourth Top 10 this week with new single Tina FT Angel (6), while The Independents are potentially set to enter the Top 40 with campaign track UKIP Calypso (21), which features former BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read. More on this HERE.

Taylor Swift makes a second Top 40 appearance at 28 with Welcome To New York, the latest track to be lifted from new album 1989, which will be released in the UK on Monday (27 October).

Irish brothers Hudson Taylor are on track for their debut Top 40, Chasing Rubies (29), alongside electronic music duo Bondax with All I See (31).

Maroon 5 are set to score their 15th Top 40 this weekend with Animals (37), which has entered the Top 40 today after the group performed the track on The X Factor at the weekend.
