Doja Cat, Kenya Grace, Jung Kook & Jack Harlow, Tate McRae and cassö: Number 1 single race latest

Doja Cat faces some tough competition for the top spot this week
Number 1 single race

Doja Cat's Paint the Town Red has some major competition in the battle for this week's Official Number 1 song.

Having spent four consecutive weeks at the summit so far, Doja is currently heading for a fifth with the Scarlet single. Paint the Town Red leads the pack in today's chart update (October 4), but there's still all to play for.

Latest Official Charts data shows British breakthrough artist Kenya Grace tracking for Number 2, with her drum and bass-infused banger Strangers proving Doja's strongest challenger so far. In the process, Kenya overtakes BTS star Jung Kook and Jack Harlow midweek; their collaboration 3D sitting at Number 5 in today's update.

The track, lifted from his upcoming debut solo album GOLDEN, looks set to become Jung Kook's second Top 5 single of the year, likely to follow the success of Number 3-peaking Latto team-up Seven.

3D also tops this week's Official Trending Chart - see the full Top 20 here.

Elsewhere in the Top 5 as it stands today, cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe's monster hit Prada looking to retain its peak of Number 3 for a second week.

Canadian singer-songwriter Tate McRae could see her viral hit greedy on the ascent this week, currently tracking to lift one spot to a brand-new peak of Number 4. Tate's highest-charting single in the UK to date remains 2020's you broke me first, which reached Number 3. Could greedy match it?

Find out who claims this week's Official Number 1 single this Friday, October 6 live on BBC Radio 1's The Official Chart with Jack Saunders on BBC Sounds, and of course right here at OfficialCharts.com.

Nice to see JUNG dropping from number 2 yesterday to number 5 today!!

Awful song: lyrics are just so stupid.

Hope to see either Doja remaining at number 1 or RAYE claiming a second number 1 this year will be a blast!!

I just realized that D-Block Europe is actually a rap group and not just a single person

Strangers is probably gonna get #1 either this or next week
