Training Season is over, baby.
Released 15 February 2024 as the second single from Dua Lipa's third album Radical Optimism, Training Season sees Dua Lipa channelling a breezy synth line reminiscent of Janet Jackson in the mid-90s. Written with Caroline Ailin, Tobias Jesso Jr. Danny L Harle and Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Dua explains that the track came out after a string of bad first dates, and realising that it was time to take the stabilisers off the bike.
"While it may be that training season is never over for any of us, you start to see the beauty in finding that person to experience it with," Dua says. "You stop looking for the trainees and become more interested in having someone where you are and someone to grow with.”
The song was premiered at the 66th annual Grammy Awards, while the video for Training Season was directed by Vincent Haycock.
Training Season first entered the UK Official Singles Chart on 23 February 2024, landing straight in the Top 5 at Number 4.
