Steps musical: Here and Now dates, tickets and more
Oh, Steps fans are getting fed in 2024. Not only are the group releasing their Step One, Steptacular and Buzz albums on vinyl for the first time ever, but they've just announced brand-new musical Here & Now.
Following in the footsteps of ABBA, Take That and Spice Girls, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans and Ian 'H' Watkins' hit-packed back catalogue has inspired a musical set to premiere at Birmingham's The Alexandra theatre this November.
Taking its title from the band's Number 4-peaking 2001 single Here and Now, the show has been written by Shaun Kitchener and produced by Steps, theatre company ROYO and pop supremo Pete Waterman.

Announcing the news, Steps said: "We’ve been lucky to do many things together as a band, but the question we get asked again and again is “where is the Steps musical?” Well…it’s finally here and we couldn’t be more excited.
"We’ve searched for the perfect story for our music and we’ve found it in the aisle of a seaside superstore where four friends set out on their own Summer of Love.
"It’s a story of friendship, romance and community: packed with our biggest hits and sure to have everybody laughing, crying and dancing in the aisles. We can’t wait to open the doors this year, and see you there!"

Gosh! How embarrassing. Steps really do think they're in the same league as Abba. No doubt their biggest supporter will be along any minute to tell me otherwise.

If you mean me, there is no word from Steps themselves here at all. Nor does the journailst writing the article suggest they are 'in the same league'., simply that they are doing the same marketing activity of having a musical made based on their catalogue. That said, God himself (Pete Waterman) made the comparison that they are 'Abba on speed'. Probably. They also have more top 5 hits than any other act (possibly bar the Beatles), but certainly more than Abba and certainly in the top 2 of that stat at the time.
