Both Kimberley and Nicola have shared cryptic posts online

Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts are sending Girls Aloud fans out of control (ahem) as they post a series of teaser clips, seemingly hinting at an announcement from the group.

The band, comprising Kimberley, Nicola, Nadine Coyle and Cheryl Tweedy, last reunited as a four-piece in October 2022 to host Sarah's Primrose Ball; a charity event in honour of their late bandmate Sarah Harding, who tragically died in September 2021.

Now, just over a year later, the band appear to be teasing an announcement expected to land this Thursday, November 23.

This month also sees the anniversary of the group's formation on ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals. The group was formed on November 30 2002, with a public vote deciding the final line-up of Girls Aloud. Their debut release, Sound of the Underground, followed on December 16 that year, and became the 2002 Official Christmas Number 1 single.

Ahead of the group's 21st anniversary, Nicola posted a video teaser of a '4' countdown screen yesterday (November 19); similar in style to that featured in the music video for the group's 2008 Number 1 single The Promise.

Today (November 20), Kimberley has followed-up with a teaser simply hinting '3'.

A Girls Aloud reunion 2023? What are the band teasing?

While Girls Aloud are yet to confirm any plans, fans are convinced Kimberley's post 'confirms' an announcement of some sort.

'GIRLS ALOUD ARE DEFINITELY COMING,' one excitedly commented, with another saying 'ITS HAPPENING.'

To date, Girls Aloud boast 21 UK Top 10 singles, including four Number 1 hits: Sound of the Underground (2002), I'll Stand By You (2004), Walk This Way with Sugababes (2007) and The Promise (2008).

In 2009, The Promise earned the group a BRIT Award for Best British Single.

The band have also scored two chart-topping albums: hits compilation The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits (2006) and Out of Control (2008).

This comes after the group sent their late bandmate Sarah birthday messages on social media, marking what would've been the star's 42nd birthday.

The group's official Instagram account shared a photo of Sarah with the caption: "Sending love to all Sarah’s fans, friends and family on her birthday today x".

Nadine commented: "Happy birthday Angel!!!!!!! Xxx," while Kimberley shared a photo alongside Sarah with the caption: "Happy heavenly Birthday to our girl."
