BLUR

Blur were founded in London by band members Damon Albarn (vocals/keyboard), Graham Coxon (vocals/guitar), Alex James (bass) and Dave Rowntree (drums). Among the leaders of the Nineties Brit-pop movement, Blur were influenced by classic acts including The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks and The Jam.

In August 1995 Blur went head to head with Oasis in one of the greatest chart battles of all time, gracing the cover of NME magazine in a chart race that divided the nation, stole media headlines, and became a defining moment in both Britpop and Official Chart history. Blur's Country House clinched Number 1 victory over Oasis's Roll With It by 50,000 copies.

2 seperate entries for Country House there, that's because at the time only 3 formats maximum were allowed due to chart rules then, the No.1 sales were for the 2 cds and cassette copy, and the 7" copy was listed seperately at No.57. Oasis ran into the same thing that year with Some Might Say, where the cd, 7" and cassette contributed to their No.1 sales, but the 12" copy had to be listed seperate aswell, charting at No.71.
