TOO MUCH
by SPICE GIRLS

The sixth consecutive UK Official Singles Chart Number 1 for the Scary, Sporty, Posh, Baby and Ginger – the first act in chart history to do so – and their second consecutive UK Official Singles Chart Christmas Number 1, Too Much was their big ballad from their album, and opening song from their film, Spiceworld.

Based on an original idea by Geri, Too Much was co-written by the girls with the production team Absolute (Andy Watkins and Paul Wilson) in July 1997, while they were filming Spiceworld. The schedule being what it was, the group usually went straight into a mobile recording studio set up in a Winnebago, which followed them between film sets. Released December 15, 1997, Too Much entered the chart at the top spot in time to become 1997’s UK Official Singles Chart Christmas Number 1, staying there for a fortnight at the start of a 19-week chart run.
