Shayne Ward made history as the first - but by no means the last! - X Factor winner to claim the UK's Official Christmas Number 1. After triumphing on the second series of the show, That's My Goal was also the first original composition released as an X Factor's winner's single.
His trip to the top was certainly quick too, That’s My Goal was released as a digital download the minute after Ward was crowned on December 17, 2005 and a CD single was available from December 21, 2005. That’s My Goal entered the UK Official Singles Christmas Chart at Number 1 on Christmas Day with a whopping first week sale of 750,000 – more than the rest of the Top 40 combined – and stayed there for four weeks, managing to end the year as 2005's second-biggest selling single in just 10 (!) days.
