Official Singles Chart Update on 4/6/2018

Hey Piran! I'm finally back from Greece, I had a great holiday there but of course I didn't have any time to check on how the UK charts were. Looking at how it's been over the past couple weeks, there's no real change, but I'll Be There doing really well is great! One Kiss is looking to be on ACR next week, and Drake hopefully won't have released his album by that point, so it looks pretty safe for Jess to get #1 by that point.

Speaking of ACR, it's really sad to see Answerphone take such a sharp drop in the chart after being affected by it :( it won't be quite as bad by Friday thanks to the streams, but for me it still feels way too early for this song to be on ACR. Meanwhile, songs like Look Alive and The Middle have been in the Top 40 for weeks now, and they have only just gone on ACR. Sometimes this chart rule does work well, but it's pretty flawed indeed.

Anyway not that much else of note I can see- Shotgun going Top 10 is great, and it's also nice seeing The 1975 back in the charts, but not much else. I haven't actually given Youngblood a listen yet, but I hope it's as good as Want You Back. I was hoping Girls Like You would be good, but I'm not really liking it so far. Maroon 5 haven't put out a good song in quite a while in my opinion, which is a real shame as they were a favourite of mine at the start of the 2010's!

Yes great to see jess glynne climbing tbh when it first came out I didn't rate it that much but it has done nothing but grow on me with every listen and I now feel it's up there with her best. Great to see climbs from clean bandit, years and years and also Tom Walker finally being recognised and surging up the charts

The thing is with Jess Glynne, she's probably in my Top 3 favourite female artists of the decade (along with Taylor Swift & Camila Cabello) & while 'I'll Be There' is really good, I still don't think I would say it was up there with my favourites. I was fortunate enough to see her live at V Festival in 2016 & after seeing her live, I can definitely say that she deserves her UK chart record.
'Solo' & 'If You're Over Me' are certainly growing on me, but for as much as I want to enjoy 'Leave The Light On' more, it still remains only decent to me.

Yeah, you've not missed much at all really! I'm still not sure about 'I'll Be There' being a future #1, because it's still a bit behind on streaming. If it can catch up on that metric, then it has a real chance, but I don't think it will given the latest numbers from Spotify.
I guess with ACR, it's only really used to knock songs back that are mainly charting due to streaming, which is why 'This Is Me' (which is largely sales based) hasn't been affected by it that much.
'Shotgun' is going Top 10 mainly thanks to a significant airplay boost & that there's now a video for it. Speaking of which, I wonder if the latter point can help 'I Like It' become Cardi B's first Top 10 as a lead artist, because it sure has the streaming to get there & I think sales will grow a little for it.
I'd even say that 'Youngblood' is even better than 'Want You Back', but to be honest, that's more because I wasn't a fan of the falsetto in the latter & I found parts of the song a little boring to be honest.
With Maroon 5, they've not released many bad songs really, but since they've been collaborating with rappers (like Kendrick Lamar on 'Don't Wanna Know' being another example), they've just been more forgettable & generic than annoying. I was also a fan of theirs a few years ago, so I agree that it's kind of disappointing. 'Payphone' is the last song of theirs that I really loved, while 'Daylight' was the most recent song of theirs I can say I cared for.
