Clean Bandit are also destined to end Ed Sheeran's reign over in the Irish chart also. Now that is brilliant news!

VERY happy with this chart update! Not only does Symphony look set to be the dark horse, but Shawn Mendes is set to hit the top 5! Paramore set to hit the top 40 is interesting, as well as other rock acts here and there like U2 and The Smiths in the top 100. Also, don't exactly have a problem with Kendrick Lamar's downfall.

Regarding album charts though, I wouldn't like to see Steps take Ed Sheeran of the #1 spot, don't like that band.

its nice to see Steps back in the charts.maybe this time chart higher.they deserve a better place from 37

Very happy about this update! :)
It's amazing to see 'Symphony' take the top spot here, as well as 'There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back' heading for a #5 debut. It'll be interesting seeing a Spanish song in the Top 40 too...

hey, don't start the party without me :D well, that's cool about 'symphony' getting the top spot....will it debut @ #1 or just climb up to the top spot?

avatar

Piran

1

Haha! No, it'll just climb there. This is 'Symphony's chart run so far...
#6 debut on 3/30/2017, then: 4-3-4-2 at the moment! :)

and no u.s. chart appearance?? gee...god forbid 'boujee' don't get enough wks in the top 10 or anything :D

avatar

Piran

1

Haha! Well 'Bad & Boujee' is far below the Hot 100's Top 10 now. :P
As I said to you in another reply, 'Symphony' is at #8 on Bubbling Under at the moment, so it might debut on the Hot 100 in the next week or two!

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

oh you told me that? sorry, i'm also watching that obama fb vid...he still has my utmost respect :). well, being @ #108 for now is good...i've seen britney and kelly clarkson zoom right to #1 from the very bottom of the hot 100 chart. so, anything can happen. what peak do you think it'll reach over here? i can def. see it crack the top 30....not too sure about top 10-20.

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah, 'Symphony' will absolutely climb, but I only see it going Top 50 or maybe Top 40 at best.
Clean Bandit are reasonably well known in the US, but Zara Larsson is still unfortunately underrated in your country.
It's #1 on my Crown Note Charts at the moment, but Ed Sheeran's 'Galway Girl' should be at the top for me next week! ;)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

it'd really depend on the rest of the top 20 around that time....but i can see it becoming a hot 100 hit and floating somewhere within the top 40. well, my crownnote page isn't working @ the moment...but i'll keep refreshing it ;)

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah, I've had that problem too, but try again in a few minutes & it should be fine! :)
Have you got your two lists ready for the Hot 100 article later then?

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

what lists are we doing? our fave top 10 #2 year end songs? and top 10 throwbacks? yeah my crown note isn't loading up...i'll try later ;)

avatar

Piran

1

Not quite; Top 10 throwbacks of the week was on the BB200 article, but Top 10 songs of the week & Year End #2s are going to be done later today! :)

J

Jstar

1

Top favorite songs from the 2008 year end list lol.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

see, with a heat fan, you can't tell if they're joking or being serious, esp. when the joke isn't that funny :D seriously, what lists are we doing?

J

Jstar

1

That is the list I am doing haha. But Piran is doing favorite number 2 peaking songs from the year end list.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

oh ok, so any top 10 songs you're listening to right? i gotta thank joseph for telling me about pentatiox (how do you spell it?) they're actually really good!

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah, that's the plan for later! Also, the group you're referring to are spelt "Pentatonix". ;)

avatar

Sunshine Gal

5

oh yeah :D see how tired i am? :D ok mate, i'm gonna sign off for now...talk to you and the others later today or 2mor. take care! :P

avatar

Piran

2

Haha! Yeah, see you tomorrow & have a good afternoon. :)

J

Jstar

2

Take care Sunshine Gal.

J

Jstar

1

What is your favorite thing about the update?

avatar

Piran

2

Hey Jstar! Well 'Symphony' taking the #1 is my favourite part of it if I had to choose one thing. :)

J

Jstar

1

Cool. I am happy for them aswell. Still waiting for the Hot 100 article though. It must be pretty close between 1 and 2 since they haven't posted it yet.

Also i'm happy about The Cure rising 10 spots too haha.

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah, I'm also very pleased to see that it's gone to #13! It's good that it's actually getting a boost in its second week & not falling a lot like a lot of songs do after their debut.
Another reason might be because Billboard are counting down the Top 10 choruses of all-time & yeah, three new songs in the Top 10 & a potential new #1 will make the article a lot longer than usual! ;)

J

Jstar

1

It just posted and i'm the first comment lol.

I Am A Stegosaurus

Hey! The first time I heard Symphony, I was like 'Not gonna come close to Rockabye's success' but I guess I'm disproven. Ive not heard Shawn's new song yet, have you?

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

1

CB are only big in the US because of Rather Be and Rockabye though. Zara Larsson has had a few low-down hits there

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah, I'd give Shawn's new song a 7/10 for now!
To be totally honest, I was also disproven about Clean Bandit; I initially never thought they would get a hit bigger than 'Rather Be'. :P

avatar

Piran

1

Well the exception there is 'Never Forget You' (peaked at #13), but for some reason, she was credited on the Hot 100 archives as the lead artist.
So do you see 'Shape Of You' going back to #1 anymore? I don't think it will & to be honest, I hope it doesn't. I think 'Galway Girl' still has a chance though! :)

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

It's because Zara ended up taking all the credit. Basically, MNEK did a pretty big thing by collaborating with Zara and bringing her into UK audiences. Then Zara became an international pop star and MNEK pretty much died. I mean, sure, the guy can't sing to save his life but you gotta feel sorry for him.

avatar

Naos

I had the same thought. Worldwide, it's not having the same amount of success though, at least in the United States. It hasn't even charted yet. Of course, it took a while for "Rockabye" to reach the Top 10 or the chart at all over there.

avatar

Piran

0

I think Zara Larsson was already a fairly successful pop star in Europe before the UK knew much about her, but yeah, 'Never Forget You' was the first song I ever heard from her.
What is your favourite Zara Larsson song then? :)

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

1

Well, you know I don't like Zara Larsson, right? Well my favourite of her overall would be Girls Like with Tinie Tempah, and on her own, the only good one she's done is Lush Life.

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah, I remember telling me you weren't a fan.
Well have you heard 'Uncover'? It's a ballad that she did when she was 15 I think. It was a Top 10 hit in several European countries, but got almost zero attention in the UK. That would be my second favourite song of hers though, after 'Lush Life'.
I'm just happy that she finally has a #1 over here! :)
