Zedd and Alessia Cara's new collaboration Stay lands at Number 1 on this week's Official Trending Chart.

The DJ and producer's latest track finishes top of the 20 songs making a big impact in the UK this week, based on movement up the Official Singles Chart (full methodology at the bottom of the page).

Stay - Zedd's fifth Top 40 hit in the UK - is on the cusp of reaching the Top 10 on the Official Singles Chart, currently at Number 12 in the latest sales flash.

German-based Zedd praised Alessia's "incredible vocal ability" at a recent fundraising event, adding: "It doesn’t really matter to me how 'good' of a singer someone is — it matters to me what kind of vocal color they have, and the emotion I get when I hear it.

"That’s probably her strongest point — she’s extremely relatable. And working with her in the studio was pretty much hitting record and watching her work her magic.”

Meanwhile, Up-and-comer Julia Michaels features high on this week's Official Trending Chart Top 20 with her debut single Issues, which is on track to make a big climb this week (at Number 17 in the latest sales flash), as does Rag'n'Bone Man's new single Skin following the unveilling of its accompanying music video.

Finally four tracks released last Friday (March 24) make a big impression on this week's trending tally: Zayn's Still Got Time ft. Partynextdoor, Kendrick Lamar's The Heart - Pt 4, Light Up My Body by David Guetta, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne, and one of four brand new Gorillaz tracks, Saturnz Barnz ft. Popcaan.

About the Official Trending Chart

The Official Trending Chart is a brand new chart launched for 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch has highlighted emerging hits such as Number 1 single One Dance by Drake, and The Chainsmokers & Halsey's chart topper Closer.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months. Under “On Air On Sale”, labels have started to release new music for consumers to buy or stream on the same day as those tracks are released to media (including radio stations and TV).
