Transformers: Rise of the Beasts smashes in at Number 1 on the Official Film Chart

Another Number 1 debut graces the Film Chart.
Still from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts makes a huge Number 1 debut on the Official Film Chart.

The sci-fi action flick pushes last week’s Number 1 Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – also a chart-topping debut last week – down to Number 2, achieving its feat on digital downloads only.

In this seventh instalment of the Transformers film franchise, audiences are taken on a globetrotting 1990s adventure, meeting a whole new faction of Transformers known as The Maximals, who join the Autobots as allies in the battle for earth.

Former chart-toppers The Little Mermaid (3) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie (4), plus Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves (5) also see themselves pushed back one place.

A big new entry comes next at Number 6 from animated Sci-Fi opera Babylon 5: The Road Home. It’s the seventh instalment in the Babylon 5 film series and follows character John Sheridan as he travels through multiple timelines and realities to find his way home.

Giant-shark film The Meg holds strong in the Top 10 this week despite falling 2 places (7), while John Wick: Chapter 4 stumbles one place (8).

Bouncing back into the Top 10 this week is Tom Hanks dramedy A Man Called Otto, rebounding three to Number 9, closely followed by Top Gun: Maverick at Number 10.

Finally, just outside the Top 10, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar rockets 29 places to Number 11.
