The Secret Life of Pets is on track to be this week's best-selling DVD

The secret is out - The Secret Life of Pets is panting its way to the Number 1 slot on the Official Video Chart.

Having shifted 134,000 units by today’s midweek Update, the Illumination Entertainment animated movie is outselling its nearest rival for chart supremacy by more than 40,000 copies. Should the film hold on by Sunday, it will be the fourth animated movie to hit Number 1 in 2016, others being Hotel Transylvania 2, Zootropolis and The Angry Birds Movie.

Two other new entries makes up the Top 3 at the halfway mark - Independence Day: Resurgence at 2 and Game of Thrones: Complete Sixth Season at 3. All releases in the Top 3 have sold over 75,000 copies so far.

New entries and high climbers

Two comedy releases are also looking to impact this week's Top 10; Billy Connelly's High Horse Tour Live is at 8, while Mrs Brown's Boys - Crackin' Christmas has its sights set on the Number 9 spot.

The latest series of Red Dwarf, the Dave exclusive series Red Dwarf XI is new at 12, and is closely followed by some high rising Christmas movies - The Grinch rises once place to 13, Elf sleighs eight spots to 15, and Arthur Christmas rises 18 positions to Number 16.

An Independence Day box set of both movies lands at 18, Complete Series 3 of Black Sails is at 22, while Pokémon Movie Collection, a bundle of the first three Pokémon movies in remastered format has been caught by many of you in your Pokéballs and sits at 29.

Finally, a bumper box set of all six seasons of Game of Thrones is new at 37.
