The London 2012 Olympics score Official Video Chart gold!

The DVD and Blu-ray release of the London 2012 Olympic Games has gone straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Video Chart.

The DVD and Blu-ray release of the London 2012 Olympic Games has gone straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Video Chart.

Featuring a specially-edited version of director Danny Boyle’s Opening Ceremony, as well as the full star-studded Closing Ceremony and day-by-day highlights - from Bradley Wiggins on the road to Nicola Adams in the ring and Mo Farah on the track – are all here on this seven hour / five disc set.

Last week’s chart topper, Shrek's Thrilling Tales, drops one place to Number 2. The second highest new entry of the week comes from Red Tails, inspired by the real-life adventures of the first African-American combat unit to serve in World War II and starring Cuba Gooding Jr and Terrence Howard, debuts at Number 3. The second season of BBC comedy Mrs. Brown’s Boys is up one place to Number 4 and the top five is completed by Ridley Scott’s sci-fi epic, Prometheus.

New entries and high climbers

This week’s final Official Video Chart new entry is Jason Segel and Emily Blunt’s The Five Year Engagement (19).

In the wake of the cinema release of Skyfall, James Bond rockets back up the chart with Quantum Of Solace jumping from 82 to Number 25, and the Bond 50 boxed set climbs 40 places from 77 to 37.

Other climbers this week include Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 (up from 71 to 28), the Complete Harry Potter Collection (up 16 places from 36 to 20), and Tim Burton’s spooky/festive animated classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, which jumps a massive 50 places from 85 to 35.
