The Girl on the Train journeying to Official Video Chart Number 1

All aboard this week's Official Video Chart Update - there's a huge chart battle taking place with less than 1,000 sales separating our top two contenders.

The Number 1 at the midweek stage is The Girl on the Train, the highly successful mystery starring Emily Blunt. Adapted from Paula Hawkins' 2015 debut novel, the thriller has shifted an impressive 65,000 units at the halfway mark today.

Just 700 copies behind is last week's Number 1 home entertainment release, Bridget Jones' Baby. Selling a huge 359,000 copies last week, a further 64,000 have been purchased after another four days on the shelves this week.

Not to be discounted, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Tim Burton's latest directorial effort starring Eva Green has sold over 50,000 DVDs and Blu-rays, another top challenger for chart glory.

New entries and high climbers

Warner Animation's Storks featuring the voices of Jennifer Aniston and Andy Samberg is perched at Number 5, ahead of the home release of We're Going On A Bear Hunt, a TV short based on Michael Rosen's classic children's picture book.

Another new entry is Heat at Number 13, ahead of Doctor Who: The Power of the Daleks at 16. Just behind The Doctor is Independence Day: Resurgence, ahem, surging up seven places. TV film Revolting Rhymes could land at Number 26 on Sunday, while a 10-position riser Batman vs Superman is aiming for Number 28.

Finally, Kris Kristofferson drama Lawless Range is on the cusp of the weekend's Top 40, and is sitting at Number 38 today.
