Taylor Swift has debuted her new single Shake It Off and announced details of her fifth studio album.

Taylor Swift has premiered her new single and announced details of her forthcoming album online.

Shake It Off will serve as the singer’s lead track from her fifth studio album 1989, which is released on October 27.

Taylor announced the news – including the album’s artwork and Shake It Off music video - during a live stream on Yahoo.

Shake It Off was co-written and produced with Max Martin and Shellback, the team behind her recent hits I Knew You Were Trouble and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

"People scan say whatever want about us, at any time and we cannot control that," she said of the song's message. "The only thing we can control is our reaction to that."

The star also described 1989 as her “first documented official pop album,” adding: that she found inspiration in the “limitless potential” of the 1980s.

1989 follows Taylor’s 2012 album Red, which hit Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart and sold over six million copies worldwide.
