Sad news for fans of X Factor band Stereo Kicks – the band have decided to go their separate ways.

In a statement on their official Facebook page, the group said: "We have considered endless ways of how we might try to make this work, but it is logistically impossible for us to continue as Stereo Kicks.

"From the bottom of our hearts, we will be forever grateful for all of your hard work, support and love. We can't thank you enough."

The eight-piece auditioned for The X Factor in 2014 as solo artists, before Simon Cowell decided to join them together. A public vote was held to decide their name, and the band were mentored by Louis Walsh, making it to the eighth week of live shows.

Stereo Kicks – Tom, James, Barclay, Jake, Chris, Reece, Casey and Charlie – scored their first Top 40 hit earlier in July, when Love Me So reached Number 31.

In an emotional message to fans, the boys said: "Although this is really sad for us, we felt that we wanted to end on a high. You guys have been with us every step of the way and have been the first to hear our news, and we wanted to keep it that way!"

The band will perform their final concert together at Thorpe Park on Saturday July 25.
