Sales of Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now shoot up by more than 1,500% following Talk Talk TV ad campaign.

‘80s rockers Starship re-entered the Official Singles Chart for the first time in nearly 26 years on Sunday.

The band’s 1987 Number 1 smash, Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, climbed a massive 106 places from Number 145 to Number 39 after being featured in Talk Talk TV's ad campaign during last week's X Factor.

Since the ad campaign kicked off on August 31, sales of Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now have increased by a massive 1,520%, and last week the track was downloaded 7,600 times in the UK.

The pop-rock hit, which was featured in the Kim Cattrall film Mannequin, previously made its Official Singles Chart debut in April 1987 at Number 29. It climbed to the top spot four weeks later where it stayed for a month before it was toppled by Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Talk Talk have launched a campaign to try to get the track to Number 1 this week. However, they face tough competition from reigning Official Singles Chart queen Katy Perry’s Roar, as well as new released from Coldplay (Atlas), Example (All The Wrong Places) and Arcade Fire and David Bowie (Reflektor).

To see where Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now places, tune into the Official Chart Show on BBC Radio 1 on Sunday (September 14) from 4pm, and log on to from 7pm to see the Official Singles Chart Top 100 in full.
