Each week we ask you to nominate a song that you reckon is a Pop Gem – those overlooked classics or big hits of yesteryear that deserve some more recognition.

Any song that fits the bill is in with a chance of a place in the Pop Gem Hall Of Fame, home to a host of veritable classics.

This week, the theme was PLACES – songs about places, or with place names in the title. Villages, towns, cities, countries, even other planets and vague concepts of mythical locations – all welcome.

Here's the final 10 we had to choose from:

ARTIST TRACK PEAK POSITION YEAR
MINI VIVA LEFT MY HEART IN TOKYO 7 2009
FERGIE LONDON BRIDGE 3 2006
INFERNAL FROM PARIS TO BERLIN 2 2006
STEREOPHONICS DAKOTA 1 2005
BRAN VAN 3000 DRINKING IN LA 3 1999
WILL SMITH WILD WILD WEST 2 1999
BEAUTIFUL SOUTH ROTTERDAM 5 1996
MARC COHN WALKING IN MEMPHIS 22 1991
KIM WILDE KIDS IN AMERICA 2 1981
PATSY GALLANT FROM NEW YORK TO LA 6 1977

Quite a collection, we're sure you'll agree, and also some great holiday ideas in there. But there can be only one winner, and today we went for Infernal's dancefloor-filling smash From Paris To Berlin.

Watch the video before we explain why this song got our heart pumping for love, pumping for love.

Why it had to be Infernal

Cast your mind back to spring 2006 – it's already pretty warm and you're definitely going darker under the arms in the disco a little sooner than you'd expect. Maybe, just maybe, it's because you're dancing extra hard because Infernal's total 100% banger is blasting into your ears.

Hailing from Denmark, dance duo Infernal had a surprise global hit on the hand with this cautionary tale of trying to fit in clubbing in too many venues into one night. From Paris To Berlin spent a whole 11 weeks in the Top 10, hanging around to soundtrack your flaming hot summer too. It reached Number 2, kept from the top by the sales juggernaut that was Gnarls Barkley's Crazy.

From Paris To Berlin spent a whopping 18 weeks in the Top 40 and has sold over 370,000 copies.

Infernal's chart history

There was only one more hit to come for Infernal; their cover of Laura Branigan's Self Control reached Number 18 later in 2006. Chart Fact: Laura's original had peaked at Number 5 in 1984.

Over on the Official Albums Chart, only one entry, also called From Paris To Berlin, which just missed the Top 40.
