Oscar-nominated La La Land soundtrack is heading for Official Albums Chart glory
It’s been sweeping the board at this year’s movie awards season, and now the soundtrack for hit film La La Land is set to claim Number 1 on this week’s Official Albums Chart.
The soundtrack, which won Golden Globes for Best Film Score and Original Song (for City Of Stars) earlier this month, leads the way on today’s Official Chart Update, pushing last week’s Number 1, Pete Tong’s Classic House, down to 2.
La La Land is also tipped to win big at next month’s Oscars, where it is nominated 14 times (equalling Titanic’s record), including Best Score and twice in the Best Song category, for City Of Stars and Audition.

New entries and high climbers
Seven brand new albums are currently on course to land inside this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 40, led by Deaf Havana with their fourth album All These Countless Nights at Number 3 – a potential personal best for the British rock band.
Elsewhere in the Top 10, former X Factor finalist Lucy Spraggan opens at 5 with her fourth album I Hope You Don’t Mind Me Writing, while US band Train are set for their fourth UK Top 10 with their 10th collection A Girl, A Bottle, A Boat (6).
Further down, there are four more new entries: Culture by US hip hop group Migos (14), SweetSexySavage by Kehlani (23), Gods Of Violence by German thrash metal band Kreator (31), and Max Richter’s score for the narrative dance piece Woolf Works (40).

It's a soundtrack album. Done by Various artists. So what's it doing in the album chart, why isn't it in the Compilation chart? (Same goes for that Pete Tong thing).
