It was a difficult October morning when Only The Poets frontman Tommy Longhurst put pen to paper to write Waking in the Dark, an emotionally-charged single reminding you that it’s okay not to be okay.

Released finally on June 5, the song has exceeded expectations, smashing their self-imposed target of 100,000 streams globally in the first week: no mean feat for a completely independent group who are building their fanbase from the ground up.

The brand new video for the track features clips of Tommy playing the song to fans for the very first time ahead of its release - the singer wanted to gauge their true reactions - and almost 100 fans had the opportunity to chat to Tommy and catch an exclusive listen to the single.

As a band who pride themselves on valuing and interacting with their supporters, it’s perfectly fitting that they decided to reach out and give as many fans as possible a special experience.

It’s been a turbulent time for Only The Poets who, having picked themselves up following a legal dispute, were all set to join Louis Tomlinson on tour across Europe when Covid-19 struck. They got just two shows into the tour before Louis was forced to cancel and reschedule for this Autumn. The band are joining Louis for the new dates.

This unexpected pause in their plans doesn’t mean the boys have taken any time off however – they’ve kept busy throughout lockdown with regional livestreams, launch parties, cooking shows and competitions to keep followers entertained.
