Olivia Rodrigo to release second GUTS single bad idea right? this Friday

Olivia Rodrigo will release the second single from her new album GUTS this Friday.

Called bad idea right? the track will follow the LP's lead single, the baroque-pop lament Vampire.

So far, Vampire has spent five weeks in the Official Singles Chart Top 5, including a straight month at Number 2, only being held off by Dave & Central Cee's record-breaking Number 1 smash Sprinter.

As with Vampire, you can expect Olivia to have worked closely with producer Dan Nigro on bad idea right? given his prevalence on her debut album SOUR, as well as tracks for contemporary Conan Gray and one of SOUR's big sonic influences, Sky Ferreira.

bad idea right? is the second track on GUTS, which normally signifies a track of great importance release-wise, so hold on to your hats.

Add the title into the mix (and we may just be putting on our tin foil hat with this) but maybe bad idea right? might just be the track on GUTS that Vogue recently compared to songs by Le Tigre (!) and Charli XCX (!!) all about an ill-advised meet-up with an ex. Because...bad idea right?

Olivia has revealed that GUTS was written mainly between LA and New York, and that it was composed during a year that was " filled with lots of confusion, mistakes, awkwardness and good old fashioned teen angst," which sound pretty much like our own experience of being 19, if we're being honest with you.

GUTS, of course, is the highly-anticipated follow-up to Olivia's instant classic debut album, SOUR, which instantly made her one of the touchstones for Gen Z pop stardom. In fact, we'd argue nobody had a better 2021 than Olivia - scoring two UK Number 1 singles (Drivers Licsense and Good 4 U) in the space of those 12 months, as well as the coveted Official Chart Double, becoming the youngest-ever artist to have the country's Number 1 single and album simultaneously.

Not bad going, right? And now she's ready to do it all again!
