Now That’s What I Call Music! 85 has become the fastest selling album of 2013 so far, going straight in at Number 1 on the Official Compilation Albums Chart.

Now That’s What I Call Music! 85 has become the fastest selling album of 2013, the Official Charts Company can reveal.

The latest instalment of the hugely popular series of compilations has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Compilation Albums Chart, scoring an impressive sales tally of 317,000 copies during its first week. This beats its predecessor, and former record holder, Now! 84, which sold 262,000 week one.

The fastest selling artist album of 2013 so far is Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, which clocked up more than 165,000 copies in its first week on sale back in May.

“The impressive opening sales of Now That’s What I Call Music! 85 underline just how, 30 years on from when it was first launched, the Now! series continues to be as popular as ever,” comments Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company.

Now That’s What I Call Music! 85 features 44 Top 40 hits, including million selling Number 1s from Daft Punk (Get Lucky) and Robin Thicke (Blurred Lines), as well as Ant and Dec’s Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble, which finally topped the Official Singles Chart back in March some 19 years after it was first released.
