Madonna may have stumbled at this year’s BRIT Awards, but her new single Living For Love is carrying her up this week’s Official Singles Chart, OfficialCharts.com can reveal.

After less than two days on sale, the singer’s latest release is currently placed at Number 26, according to today’s Official Charts Company sales flash (February 27). She's just over 1,000 chart sales away from the Top 20, while another 10,500 would see her enter the Top 10.

The last minute entry means she is set to earn her 71st UK Top 40 hit on Sunday’s chart. Her last entry was in 2012 with her Nicki Minaj and MIA collaboration Give Me All Your Luvin’, which peaked at Number 37. Click here to view Madonna’s full week-by-week UK chart history

Living For Love was released on Wednesday ahead of her appearance at this year’s BRIT Awards – her first at the ceremony in 20 years.

The star faced difficulty during her performance of the song, which closed the show, after she fell due to her cape failing to untie.

Living For Love serves as the lead single from Madonna’s 13th studio album Rebel Heart, which follows on March 9.

"The star faced difficulty during her performance of the song, which closed the show, after she fell due to her cape failing to untie" ???? Who writes this rubbish???? I think the millions around the globe who watched this, could quite easily see, the megastar was DRAGGED off the stage, a fall implies she toppled over of her own accord, are we shading Madonna's age here official charts???? Utterly disgusting! You are not here to throw insinuating, or leading misinformation. Just do your job.

Equally as disgusting as the way you blocked her Give Me All Your Lovin single from entering the UK top 10 by disqualifying her first 2 & only days sales of the single (it was released mid week in the UK) .... apparently seen as an incentive to buy the album, Interscope offered the single for immediate download when pre ordering the album MDNA in the UK, and despite being charged 99p by itunes WHEN fans pre ordering the album, the OCC saw it as an 'incentive' to purchase MDNA, and blocked its 2 days worth of sales.... strange as its a tactic used by Gaga in the past and currently by Kylie with her god awful novelty song.

This needs seriously needed looking in to. It cost Madonna a hit single in the 10's, but i guess that was most likely the aim. Weaken her chart legacy and achievements to give other artists a chance of breaking a few of her many historic records. Looks good beating Madonna doesnt it?!

OCC You cant beat her, so you cheat her. No wonder the UK music industry is on its way out

If most younger singers are getting crappy material , you can't expect a 58 old singer to get much better, in America the song didn't even reach the top 100.

I've been a true fan of Madonna since 1983, and she never fails to intrigued and produce wonderful pop music.... Hard Candy was so/so, MDNA was better, but Rebel Heart is Amazing!!! Madonna is facing discrimination from radio, the media and just plain old nasty haters.... She knows these walls are surrounding her, but she continues to work, and thank God she does.... I feel the same excitement over every new Madonna album, tour, video, just like I did when I was 16.... There is only one pop music queen, all others pale in comparison....

I've bought it about 30 times and have been streaming it constantly all afternoon, but doubt my efforts are going to propel it into the Top 10. I realise the track ain't ever gonna be No.1, but a few weeks in the charts would be nice. We shall see!

Her Masterpiece was the Album RAY OF LIGHT ....because she tried something new.....these days she just tries to be/stay popular ......that is why her music just sounds like the "music industry 2015" - compatible......

I really do believe that fall was an accident but it saved this single. If she can shoot for adult contemporary coverage, it will do even better. ' tarotworldtour.wordpress.com '

If I am honest, it would have been nice for the song to be a Top 10 debut. But a record extending 71st!!!!!! top 40 is pretty good too :p

Only 10,500 sales guarantees a top ten? No one buy albums or singles in the UK anymore. So how many would guarantee her a top 20 5,000? She is still 1,000 away from top 20. This is weird.

It says another 10,500, meaning additional sales of 10,500 - on top of what it has already sold - would put it somewhere near the Top 10 on Sunday. Hope this stops it being weird.

Living for Love is amazing... I love it and it should be number one but with the media hating Madonna and boycotting her. It seems hard to reach it. Ageism, sexism is a big problem in this world

avatar

Marco Domizio

0

it's not an ageism problem, it's that the younger generation find it difficult to connect with Madonna and the older one does not buy as many copies as they used to do when they were young. it is a normal thing. I love Madonna new single but we need to be realistic, she is not in tune with the young generation and there is nothing wrong with it.

I have to disagree with u. I am young and I love Madonna's music... And so do friends of mine who are the same age as me. We buy all her albums and even go to her tours. It is about the media who boycotts her because of political point of view since American life album. That is how the world goes about... If u agree with what who has more power in this world u will still be relevant to this small group with power. Madonna's albums have sold well. And her tours are sold out all the time. How can u explain that? There isn't freedom of expression in this world. The countries that say are free still need to work on that. The media only shows what it is convenient for them to control the population... If there's an artist going against their political view. They block him/her.

if you say so.... I do not not really want to start a fight here but I do not think that the majority of young people feel connected with Madonna and frankly it would be worrying if it was so.

A fight? Who's fighting here? I thought u said u were a Madonna fan lol everybody has different opinions.. And I'm free to say what I want. Bye

With all due respect, you have a lot more to worry about with what young people are connected with nowadays....vapid entertainers that just numb your mind, no imagination, no risk taking, no pushing the envelope...never have a current generation so unhip than the previous one.

I am a Madonna fan and love her.

that's all another story and yep I totally agree with you... risk is not really a part of the young generations

Its not about people not buying Madonna's music because fans are buying it and she is going to make a killing again on her upcoming world tour. Its about comments made about her age. You will hardly see an article about Madonna these days that does not make mention of how old she is. Age should be irrelevant.

My children are the young generation and they were all talking about Madonna in there school how good she was to carry on singing after her fall. They like listening to her so I don't know where your coming from.

I'm young too...23y... difficult to connect...?
She seriously has some good tunes dude...
Would you say that about Rolling Stones, Prince, David Bowie, Beatles, etc...

avatar

Ciao maybe I was not clear. I do love David and prince and the others but I would not buy their new stuff. I'm quite happy with the old one they produced.

avatar

2

You don't have to buy it... but you can still listen to it.
David Bowie's new album last is great to listen to...
You should give it a go.... It's good.... but that's just my opinion.
Age ain't nothing but a number....

That's . I'm SO tired of all this 'younger generation find it difficult to connect with Madonna' bunk- young people connect just fine with Michael Jackson or The Beatles. Young people connect each year with THE WIZARD OF OZ, young girls idolize Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, the 80's are white-hot now, yet young people can't connect with Madonna? Sounds like YOU aren't being realistic.

They blame the younger generation for being ageist, while it's the media who are ageist. Blame someone else sort of thing.

I didn't really like MDNA. But this single LFL is a great commercial pop tune. Don't know if it'll do as great as it deserves, but hopefully it will.
