Louise teams up with Clean Bandit on new single Lead Me On: First listen preview

Louise goes full on tropi-pop for the third trailer from her upcoming album.

2019 has been full of musical surprises, both good and bad, but the return of Louise has so far ranked on the surprisingly great end of the spectrum.

Her comeback single Stretch released back in March is a masterclass in slinky and seductive pop that felt modern but also a nod to her ‘90s classic Naked, while follow-up Small Talk wouldn't sound out of place on an album by the current crop of up-and-coming pop stars.

The third trailer from her upcoming album sees Louise step (or sashay?) into brand new territory. The track is called Lead Me On, and it’s produced by Clean Bandit and Sam Roman (Lewis Capaldi, Little Mix, Jonas Blue). Louise is not messing about, is she? It’s out this Thursday, July 4.

The song is a proper tropi-pop affair: steel drums, bobbing synths and a dance-pop chorus that’s about as subtle as a strawberry slushie mojito. “Why’d you lead me on? I don’t do this for anyone,” Louise ponders on the second of two hip-swivelling choruses. Get this on the soundtrack to Love Island stat.

Update: The song is now out! Listen below:

Lead Me On features on Louise new album Heavy Love, which is out on October 18. Check out Louise's Official Top 10 biggest singles on the Official Chart here.
