After a week away from the top spot, Lily Allen’s cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know is heading back to Number 1 this weekend.

According to today’s Official Chart Update, Lily Allen’s cover of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know could be on course to return to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart this weekend.

The track, which is featured in department store John Lewis’s Christmas TV ad campaign, first reached the chart summit two weeks ago, beating both Bastille and Gary Barlow in the closest chart race of the year so far. It was knocked off the top spot on Sunday by Calvin Harris and Alesso’s Under Control FT Hurts, who fall two places to Number 3.

Lily is also listed in this year’s definitive Official Christmas Number 1 contenders list. Though Somewhere Only We Know may already have hit the top spot, with its haunting vocal and its accompanying TV ad on high rotation, the track will undoubtedly be hanging around the upper echelons of the Official Chart for some time yet.

One Direction are up one place to Number 2 with Story Of My Life, while Bastille’s Of The Night (4) and Gary Barlow’s Let Me Go (5) complete today’s Top 5.

New Entries And High Climbers

All About She look set to score this week’s highest new entry with Higher (Free), which is at Number 11 today. Despite this being the Brit trio’s first foray into the Official Singles Chart Top 40 under their own name, they are no strangers to chart success having already worked with the likes of Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal and Jessie J, to name but a few.

Following his performance on last weekend’s X Factor, 2012 winner James Arthur is new in at Number 12 with Recovery, while fellow X Factor alumni Rebecca Ferguson, who also performed on the show over the weekend, is set to debut at 14 with her new single, I Hope. Change Me (21) is on track to become Justin Bieber’s ninth Top 40 hit in as many weeks, and Leona Lewis debuts at 32 with her new single, One More Sleep.

Even though this year’s Christmas Number 1 race doesn’t officially kick off for another 11 days, a couple of seasonal classics are already starting to appear in the Top 40. Mariah Carey’s 1994 Number 2 hit, All I Want For Christmas Is You, climbs 25 places to enter today’s Update at 22, while The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale Of New York is up 27 places to Number 26. The track, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012, finally broke through the million copies sales barrier last New Year’s Eve.

And finally Mumford & SonsI Will Wait is up 57 places to Number 25 today following Luke Friend’s rendition of it on last Saturday’s X Factor.

The Official Singles Chart Update Top 40 is as follows. The Official Singles Chart Top 100 will be posted in full, here, on Sunday at 7pm.
