Lil Nas X’s Montero (Call Me By Your Name) holds at Number 1 to make it five consecutive weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart.

Picking up 7.4 million streams over the past seven days, the track is still holding strong at the top of the Official Chart, holding off competition from Justin Bieber’s Peaches ft. Daniel Caesar & Giveon, and BED by Joel Corry, Raye & David Guetta who hang on at Number 2 and 3 respectively.

Doja Cat’s Kiss Me More ft. SZA climbs three to a new peak at Number 6, while further peaks come from D-Block Europe & Raye’s Ferrari Horses, up three at Number 14, Heat Waves by Glass Animals at Number 19, and Majestic & Money M’s Rasputin which vaults six places to 21.

ok, so uk group eternal achieved an impressive (i'll get to why i think that in a sec) top 20 single in the u.s. with 'stay'. it debuts on the hot 100 chart on 1/15/1994 @ #87-60-45-33-27-26-26-23-19*-20-22-20-25-33-42-49-59 and so on. for the wk of 3/12/1994 it peaks @ #19 and here's the hot 100 chart for that wk: https://www.billboard.c*m/charts/hot-100/1994-03-12

so for the top 10 of this wk, the top 10 is chock full of huge acts that are just gonna be top 10 mainstays. ace of base, mariah, r. kelly, toni braxton, all for 1 were all huge radio acts. BUT, eternal stays in the top 40 for a whopping 11 wks! that's almost 3 mos. remaining in the top 40, esp. the top 30. but unfortunately artists like mariah and celine dion won't leave the top 10 for many months with different singles. but they do a great job climbing up the hot 100 chart and i remember enjoying this single on the radio back then.

i don't think i was following the hot 100 too much during this time, but i do remember 'stay' on the radio back then. see, the hot 100 chart during this time was predominantly radio airplay...the more 'spins' a single got on the radio, the higher the chart position. but great overall effort for eternal...just too hard to compete with huge u.s. radio acts like celine dion *canadian* and mariah carey. and lemme know if anyone has any other requests to see how other uk acts did over here. :))))))

well i couldn't resist doing another hot 100 chart throwback for another uk act, eternal, but just wanted to say some of my fave u.s. acts and songs never hit the hot 100 top 10 themselves. you don't have to have a top 10 hit to be great in my book ;). i want eternal to know that, i don't think anyone's a failure and sometimes i think the uk acts are better than some of the u.s. ones ;). ok, i'll have my chart throwback up in another post ;)

I really want to see a new song at #1 now, but unfortunately, it looks like ‘Montero [Call Me By Your Name]’ has a stable enough lead to get most of next month at the top of the charts too.

It’s still decent, but yeah, the overexposure is getting to me now, as expected for this! :(

Billie Eilish might be a good contender next week with her new single

You said it..a relief for me as I don't have to hear it on Radio 2..Now Majestic and Money M with Rasputin?? That takes me back to Junior school days in 1978!(Yes I go back years with my chart memories)

I've been so busy at work this week! I've been doing overtime most days, so I might not be on here as much for a while outside of my usual Monday & Friday nights. :/
