Hotel Transylvania 2 books a spot at Number 1 on this week's Official Video Chart

There are also new entries from Crimson Peak and Lance Armstrong biog-drama The Program on this week's Official Video Chart Update.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is heading for the top spot on this week’s Official Video Chart.

The kids' animated comedy, whose characters are voiced by the likes of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg and Selena Gomez, occupies the penthouse on the tally with 71,000 copies sold at the mid-week stage.

Hotel Transylvania makes two other entries on today’s Update: the first instalment vaults from 32 to Number 3, and a box set of the two films lands at Number 11.

Meanwhile, last week’s chart-topper The Martian slips to 2, British crime thriller Legend slips from 2 to 4, and gothic romance Crimson Peak is new at Number 5.

New entries and high climbers

Outside the Top 10, Universal Pictures’ Barbie – Spy Squad enters at 12, Horrible Histories movie Bill is new at 16, Lance Armstrong biographical-drama The Program debuts at 19 and Surviving Auschwitz lands at Number 30.

Elsewhere, six Walt Disney films are heading back to this week’s Top 40: Big Hero 6 (14), The Lion King (17), Cinderella (21), Beauty And The Beast (24), The Jungle Book (34) and The Little Mermaid (35).
