The late Summer resurgence of George Ezra's Shotgun is set to continue this week.

Atop of today's Official Singles Chart Update, Shotgun is charging towards a fourth non-consecutive week at the helm following its return to Number 1 last Friday

Originally a two-week chart-topper in early July, George then spent five weeks at Number 2. The last time a song spent that much time at the runner-up slot before going back up was Happy by Pharrell in 2014.

Just behind, Drake holds firm at Number 2 with In My Feelings, while Benny Blanco advances one to 3 with Eastside ft. Halsey & Khalid. Loud Luxury ascend two to Number 4, while Calvin Harris and Sam Smith begin at Number 5 with Promises, potentially this week's highest new entry.

New entries and high climbers

Ariana Grande has three songs in today's midweek Top 20, God is a Woman being the highest, rebounding six places to Number 6. Sweetener album cut Breathin storms to Number 8, while the title track from Ari's fourth studio LP lands at 19.

Two more new entries are also vying for a Top 20 debut; Jess Glynne's All I Am is on course to become her 11th Top 40 hit, while The 1975 are coasting towards an eighth Top 40 appearance with TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME, new at 20.

David Guetta and Anne-Marie are catapulting 13 positions to Number 24 with Don't Leave Me Alone, plus Happier, Marshmello's latest track ft. Bastille, starts out at Number 34.

Finally, for the first time in over 20 years, Aretha Franklin could grace her presence in the Top 40, following her death last Thursday. The Queen of Soul's hit single I Say A Little Prayer re-enters at Number 22 today, with Respect at 33.

This will probably be his last week at number one. It should've been the longest number one of the year but Drake will hold that record once more.

It's amazing how consistent 'Shotgun' has been this summer! :)
I also like seeing 'Promises' as the highest new entry of the week, as well as two Ariana tracks in the Top 10.

It has been a great summer, far hotter than usual and it has that great happy summer vibe so it doesn't surprise me really. People still wanting the hot weather hanging on for more summer and sunshine still thinking of when it started getting hot and it was shotgun getting popular then, bring back the hot weather we have still have a few weeks of summer left!

I don't really think that's what helped Shotgun to #1 in my opinion- though definitely One Kiss was (and is the definite song song of the summer for me!)

It was out very early in the year and was far from number 1 by the time the hot weather came. A great song yes, summer song more like spring but if you're still calling it a summer song am sure plenty others will too and hence the reason we have stale charts all the time as people still keep listening to songs months and months after they have peaked, preventing more newer fresher songs being able to chart

One Kiss has grown on me a lot, definitely the best #1 of the year so far for me- and nah mate, I was definitely getting hot weather by the time it was at the top! Also that song is on ACR, but people are still very clearly listening to it- obviously cause it was a good song
