Madison ups the tempo but loses none of her emotional potency in her new single.

Ever since her daring career pivot with Dead in 2018 - turning her from a teen pop idol wannabe into a smart and smouldering alt-pop siren - Madison Beer has kept the tempo low, focusing instead on her velvet smooth vocals and the smoky, enigmatic emotional vulnerability laced throughout her impressive debut album, 2021's cohesive and impressive Life Support.

But now entering into her sophomore era - with a second album, Silence Between Songs recently announced to drop September 15 - Madison had decided to up the tempo and feed the children, while losing none of the potent authenticity she's worked hard to build.

That's right, lads, the banger is here.

Ready to drop tomorrow (June 2) we've received an exclusive first listen of Madison's brand new single Home To Another One and can confirm that it does, indeed, slap and slap hard.

Connecting the line between Britney Spears and Lana Del Rey that Madison has always seemed to co-exist between; an artist how seems like a natural fit to ascend into pop's A-tier, but who has also endeavoured hard to work against those expectations and build her own career from the ground up. Home To Another One represents a happy middle ground between these two states of being, and marks what just might be the most exciting phase of her career.

To start with, though, Home To Another One at least presents itself as business as usual for Madison, with an introduction of flourishing strings and a focus on Madison's vocals.

"I know what I should say," she coos, "'I don't think of you'...but I do. I do. I do."

But almost immediately, the thumping bass begins to kick in, and this isn't just a lament, Madison is taking her feels and throwing them a party on the dancefloor. When the electronic production does fully kick in, Home To Another One transforms into a kinetic

"Another year," the chorus goes, "we're still here. I know you go home to another one."

How dare he!

But we love when a pop girl gets in her feels and decides to make a banger about it, and as an indicator of how strong Silence Between Songs is going to be, its very promising too.

Pop music is all about growth. Madison Beer started as one artist, before having the tenacity to change lanes to something very different. Now, she's trying to merge these two lanes together, Home To Another One is a mature and engaging pop slammer that points to great things on the horizon.

Home To Another One drops June 2. Silence Between Songs arrives September 15, both via Epic.
