Ed Sheeran’s Shivers holds on at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart, while Coldplay & BTS score a big new entry with their new collaboration My Universe.

With 64,000 chart sales, Shivers notches up a third week at the summit, finishing comfortably ahead of its closest competition, Elton John & Dua Lipa’s Cold Heart (Pnau Remix) which lands a second week at Number 2.

Taking the highest new entry at Number 3 is Coldplay & BTS with My Universe. It’s the week’s biggest seller across both digital downloads and CD, notching up 27,000 pure sales over the last seven days. 21,400 of these are on digital download, marking the biggest single week of downloads for a song this year.

Elsewhere in the Top 5, Nigerian singer & songwriter CKay climbs five places to Number 4 with his viral hit Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah), his first UK Top 5 hit.

Further down, Becky Hill & Topic climb three places to Number 17 with My Heart Goes (La Di Da) and Melbourne house duo Shouse enter the Top 40 for the first time with Love Tonight, rocketing 31 places to Number 23. Originally released in 2017, the track has been picking up steam in 2021, with remixes from David Guetta and Robin Schulz further boosting it.

Ed and Olivia are now equal on Singles weeks at #1 this year. She's way ahead if you add her Albums weeks.

You really think he will not eat her album numbers in two months? GB love him so much. He will be at the top of the single and album charts at the end of the year if Adele doesn't show up.

Olivia album have no chance against Ed Sheeran, Abba or Adele. All of them will take less than a month to leapfrog her album sales in UK.

Not sure what are total song numbers for Olivia songs and Ed Sheeran songs but "Bad Habits" will most probably be the #01 song in UK for 2021 too as he had some really good weekly sales while Olivia was #01 all that time because most of those weeks were pretty slow releases and sales weeks..

You're right! On average 92% of Brits own a Ed Sheeran song and 26% own one of his albums! It's insane numbers for someone who started not that long ago. He is already the best selling equivalent song units artist in UK (he leapfroged Madonna, Eminem and Rihanna in a heartbeat!).

I agree with all your analysis. As you said it, his success in GB is just unbelievable...he can record his and it will still be a #1.

I'm not talking sales figures. I'm talking weeks on chart, specifically at #1. Olivia has 14 Singles and 5 Albums. Ed has 14 Singles and no Albums. That will change with the release of his album, but it can only do 8 weeks at #1 this year. With Abba near certain to be one of those 8 weeks, that leaves just 7 to get 5 weeks at #1. Coldplay release their album first, but will be a strong contender to return to #1. It's a big ask, even for Sir Ed, but possible. Especially if he increases his singles weeks, he'll overtake her combined both charts total of 19. I'd have to look it up, but she will probably be the "highest runner up" in the most weeks at #1 in a year chart. I don't think any 2nd-placed act has had as many as 19 weeks at #1 in a year. In most years that's enough to have the most weeks at #1 in a year.

Or sing an average weekly shopping list and make it sell...but then anyone that mentions food in their songs is alright by me.😁

'My Universe' is certainly an interesting collaboration, but I really hope it can grow on me a bit!

I really love seeing 'Love Nwantiti' entering the Top 5 though & especially 'Love Tonight' finally coming off ACR. :)

Hopefully their album debuts at No.1 too, to continue their career streak of all No.1 albums.
Ed & Adele are really BIG threats.

They were very lucky to stay TOP 3. If it wasn't for 5 different versions of the song on iTunes that they kept releasing, the CD-Single and for them to be discounted on last days on iTunes as well (all versions) they woud have even probably missed the TOP 5 (the other 4 version together sold twice as much as the original on iTunes). At least they had sales but without streaming (the song peaked #21 on Spotify daily chart but was bellow #35 every other day and was #16 on Apple Music daily Chart but also felt quick).

It will be quite harder for them to peak #01 this time around but it's not impossible. Not sure how their fan base will react as most of these sales seem to be from "BTS Army"..

Their album is due out a couple of weeks before Ed and Abba so I think they are a good chance.
