The impact of David Bowie's death continues to take effect on charts across the globe this week, with the icon entering America's Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the first time in almost 30 years this week.

Lazarus - taken from his final album Blackstar - debuts at Number 40 on the tally. The Top 40 entry marks his first since Never Let Me Down, which peaked at Number 27 in the country 1987.

Since Bowie's death on January 10, Lazarus has been described as a poignant farewell to his fans for its mournful music video and lyrics, which include "Look up here, I'm in heaven/ I've got scars that can't be seen".

Across his career, Bowie has scored 13 Top 40s in America, including the Number 1s Fame (1975) and Let's Dance (1983).

Lazarus' entry follows recent news that Blackstar is Bowie's first US Number 1 album. His previous best was Number 2 with 2013's The Next Day.

Elsewhere on the Hot 100, Justin Bieber continues his Top 10 takeover with Sorry at 1, Love Yourself at 3 and What Do You Mean at 10 for its 20th week on the tally.

Selena Gomez's Same Old Love climbs a place from 6 to earn her another Top 5, G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha's Me, Myself & I leaps from 29 to 19, and Gomez's Hands To Myself cracks the Top 40, leaping from 42 to 37.
