Summer is officially here as Calvin Harris claims his sixth Official Singles Chart Number 1.

Congratulations to Calvin Harris, who has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart today with Summer.

The track, which is the first to be released from the Scottish DJ and producer’s upcoming fourth studio album, outsold last week’s chart topper, Waves by Mr Probz (down one place to Number 2 today) by nearly 7,000 copies, according to the Official Charts Company’s sales data.

Summer is the sixth track to feature Calvin Harris to reach Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, and he’s had a hand in two others: He scored his first Number 1 in 2008 with Dance Wiv Me with Dizzee Rascal, I’m Not Alone hit the top spot in 2009, while his 2011 collaboration with Rihanna, We Found Love, spent six weeks at the chart summit and has gone on to become one of the UK’s biggest selling singles of all-time.

In 2012 Calvin enjoyed three Number 1 singles: Call My Name, which he wrote and produced for Cheryl Cole, topped the chart in June, his remix of Spectrum (Say My Name) took the Florence And The Machine track to Number 1 in July, while Sweet Nothing, another collaboration with the group’s frontwoman, Florence Welch, hit the top spot in October.

Calvin teamed up with Swedish DJ and producer Alesso and Hurts vocalist, Theo Hutchcraft, for his next Number 1, Under Control, which went straight in at Number 1 last November.

2013 also saw Calvin set a new Official Chart when he became the first artist in history to clock up nine Top 10 singles from one album (18 Months), beating previous title holder, Michael Jackson.

This week’s Official Singles Chart Top 5 is completed by Hideaway by Kiesza (Number 3), Nobody To Love by Sigma (4) and All Of Me by John Legend (5).

New Entries and High Climbers

After just 24 hours on sale, Michael Jackson’s Love Never Felt So Good has rocketed into the Official Singles Chart Top 40 today at Number 27. The song is the opening track from the late King Of Pop’s second posthumous album, Xscape, which is released in the UK next week.

Paloma Faith’s Only Love Can Hurt Like This soars 30 places to make its Top 40 debut at Number 20 today, while Alicia Key’s It’s On Again FT Kendrick Lamar climbs 14 places to Number 39 today.

And finally, Marilyn Monroe by Pharrell Williams climbs 54 places to Number 40.
