Calvin Harris & Florence Welch, UK’s new collaborative power couple, strike again as new single Sweet Nothing goes in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart exactly three months after summer smash Spectrum hit the top spot.

Sweet Nothing is taken from Calvin Harris’ upcoming album 18 Months and replicates the chart success of his remixed version of Florence & The Machine’s Spectrum, which went straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart in July this year.

Reigning chart toppers Swedish House Mafia slide one place to Number 2 with Don’t You Worry Child, while the inescapable Gangnam Style and Rihanna’s Diamonds hold firm at Number 3 and 4 respectively. Adele’s theme from the James Bond film Skyfall drops three places to Number 5 in its third week on the chart.

In addition to Calvin & Florence, this week Official Singles Chart Top 40 sees new entries from Lawson, Rebecca Ferguson, Tyler James, Taylor Swift and Everything Everything.

This year’s third release from British pop outfit Lawson just misses out of the Official Singles Chart Top 5, with Standing In The Dark coming in at Number 6. Backtrack, the new song from Rebecca Ferguson’s revamped album Heaven is at Number 15, while Tyler James enters the chart at Number 28 with Single Tear.

American folk-pop heroine Taylor Swift continues her, ahem, swift release of singles from her upcoming album Red as State Of Grace enters at Number 36, giving her three songs in the Official Singles Chart Top 40. Meanwhile, critically acclaimed British indie outfit Everything Everything secure their first Official Singles Chart placing with Cough Cough in at Number 37.

This week’s highest climber Justin Bieber FT Nicki Minaj with Beauty And A Beat, rockets 82 places to Number 20 this week, while Two Fingers, the single from new Official Albums Chart topper Jake Bugg shoots 53 places to Number 33. John Denver’s Annie’s Song climbs fourteen places to Number 38, while Maroon 5 make a 10-notch leap to break into the Official Singles Chart Top 10 as One More Night finishes the week at Number 8.
