Renee Zellweger's latest incarnation of Bridget Jones is heading straight for the Official Video Chart Number 1 spot.

Bridget Jones' Baby, the first film in the Jones franchise for 12 years - which also stars Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey - has shifted 217,000 DVDs and Blur-rays in four days, putting the rom-com on track to become the fastest-selling home entertainment release of the year so far.

Topping off the movie's incredible release, we can also reveal in today's Update that the midweek sales are higher than the rest of the Top 40 combined, which features a further six new entries. One of those newbies is the Bridget Jones 3 Movie Collection, new at 3.

Bridget Jones' Baby will complete a hat-trick of Number 1s for the franchise. Bridget Jones' Diarry spent four weeks at Number 1 in 2001, selling a million copies in three weeks. Follow-up Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason was a two week chart-topper and sold over 400,000 units in week one.

New entries and high climbers

Based on a true story, Mark Wahlberg stars in Deepwater Horizon, which is eyeing up the Number 2 position this Sunday. Season 3 of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD looks to crack the Top 10 at Number 7, while Endeavour: The Complete Fourth Series could scoop the Number 10 slot this week.

Ahead of Fifty Shades Darker's release in cinemas on February 10, the prequel Fifty Shades of Grey continues to leap up the chart, up eleven to Number 11. A new entry from Alexander Skarsgard's buddy cop film War on Everyone follows closely behind, and could land at Number 14.

Finally, Emelia Clarke romance Me Before You climbs six rungs to Number 20, Game of Thrones: Complete Sixth Season rises nine to 24, and Dirty Dancing re-enters the chart at Number 35 following the release of a 30th anniversary edition.
