Life in plastic? It's fantastic!

Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night could get a massive boost into the Top 5 this week, thanks to the release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie. Dance The Night – the lead single from the film’s soundtrack – is predicted to rise 10 places to Number 5.

Barbie’s release could also see Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj & Aqua’s Barbie World jump up and reach a new peak of Number 11.

Dave & Central Cee are going nowhere. Sprinter is ahead of the competition for an eighth week at Number 1.

Taylor Swift’s Cruel Summer charges towards a rebound (3), as Nathan Dawe, Joel Corry & Ella Henderson on 0800 Heaven fly up to a new peak (6).

Bou’s big breakout anthem Closer featuring Slay is looking to breakthrough into the Top 20, at Number 12, while Byron Messia’s Talibans is also predicted to hit new heights (14).

Travis Scott teams up with Bad Bunny and The Weeknd on K-Pop, the first single from his much-hyped new album Utopia, which could enter the chart at Number 19.

Chart Update 23/07/2023

Look. I know I'm a few days late here, but if the OCC can't be bothered to upload their Monday update on time, then I am also contractually obliged to wait several days before giving my opinions on the Sunday update. Let's just get this over with.

20. D-Block Europe & Clavish - Pakistan (3/10) Hands up people. How many of you actually recognize this tune from the other DBE songs. Not many? Shouldn't be shocked. I can only really remember Ferrari Horses.

19. Travis Scott/Bad Bunny/The Weeknd - K-POP (5/10) And in other news, here is Travis Scott's first real material since 'that ASTROWORLD concert'. Not much to shout about here, no matter how popular Bad Bunny is, I just can't get invested. Not even The Weeknd can make it better.

18. The Weeknd/Madonna/ Carti - POPULAR (7/10) Speaking of which, here he is not taking advantage of his chart position. I get this is just a soundtrack single, but so are the Barbie songs, so you have no excuse mate.

17. Tom Grennan - How Does It Feel (3/10) do you really want me to talk about this one?

16. Billie Eilish - What Was I Made For (5/10) Oddly, despite being ON THE SOUNDTRACK, Billie doesn't seem to have made that many gains on the chart, sliding six places. Her popularity on Spotify right now may just about be enough to save her, but I'm not really convinced. All's well that ends well I suppose.

15. Jorja Smith - Little Things (7.6/10) Jorja you had one job. ONE JOB. WHY do you need to fall a couple of places? Is it because of Barbie, or because you just aren't capable? I'm probably leaning towards the former here, but still. Do better.

14. Byron Messia - Talibans (5.8/10) We interrupt your chart review to bring you 'Movements That Surprised Everybody'. First up is Jamaican reggae newbie Byron Messia, whose song that will NEVER BE PLAYED ON RADIO 1 rockets up 15 places. This is easily explainable, due to the fact that Burna Boy has contributed to a new version of the song that does not improve it at all. I can only imagine if he ever gets to No.1.

13. Gunna - fookoomean (4.6/10) Welp. Gunna had a good run of 1 week in the Top 10. Not that he will notice of course. Typical American artists.

12. BOU ft. Slay - Closer (4.5/10) This 22 position rocket, however, is less manageable. I don't know how this has flew up the way it has, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna change my opinion of this song. Still, at least it uses that Robert Miles song better than Switch Disco ever could.

11. Nicki Minaj/Ice Spice - Barbie World (5/10) Oh, yep, there's Nicki and Spice, aka the most inseparable female rappers vocally at the moment. They go up 9 places thanks to you-know-what.

10. Kylie Minogue - Padam Padam (6/10) IS KYLIE STILL HERE!?

9. J Hus ft. Drake - Who Told You (8/10) Oh for the love of- uh.. I mean, this is a big incovenience. His album slips to 5 in the album update, which for some reason HAS been uploaded, but the singles hasn't. Why?

8. Hannah Lairo & RoRo - Good Love (4.9/10) I'm really struggling to come up with creative words about this song.

7. Jung Kook ft. Latto - Seven (4/10) I told you he'd be a one-week wonder, didn't I?

6. Nathan Dawe/Joel Corry/Ella Henderson - 0800 HEAVEN (3/10) *slams head repeatedly on desk*

5. Dua Lipa - Dance The Night (6.3/10) Took you long enough Dua. Again, this is from that soundtrack with Ryan Gosling, GAYLE and Dominic Fike in it, so it may as well benchpress the upper positions for weeks to come.

4. Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana - (6.5/10) This is the bit in the review where everything becomes boring. No offence to Peggy or anything, but it wouldn't hurt to climb a little higher, hmm?

3. Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer - (6.4/10) So the Speak Now songs are flying to oblivion, giving this song even more gravitas. Seems reasonable that the cream of the crop, in my opinion, should be leading the line this week.

2. Olivia Rodrigo - vampire (7.4/10) This is no exception. I mean, we're all still waiting for the day the song above it goes to ACR, but for now, O-Rod is STILL NO.2. Wouldn't hurt for some change at the top.

1. Dave & Central Cee - Sprinter (5/10) Zzzzzzzzz. Fall off the top already. You've had your fun now, give someone else a chance.

That is that. End of review. C U on Friday.

(P.S. Also hitting the Spotify charts recently include Charli XCX, ZAYN, Noah Kanah, Stormzy & RAYE, and Ryan Gosling, but we'll never know how well they'll do for another couple days yet. Seriously. OCC, upload your stuff on time. It gets really on my nerves when this problem keeps happening every other week.)

The re-peak for 'Cruel Summer' and the new peak for '(It Goes Like) Nanana' are both good to see! 😁

Not heard 'K-Pop' yet, but I'm definitely excited to get around to it given the names on it.

'Seven' at #7, with seven different versions, on a chart announced at 7pm on the seventh day of the week, in the seventh month of the year, from a member of a group with seven members! 😳

Very pleased to see 'Dance The Night' jump into the Top 5 following the movie and soundtrack boost! 😊

Shame to see 'What Was I Made For?' falling back down, but hopefully it can recover throughout the rest of the tracking week.
