British singer’s theme song to new James Bond film to premiere at 0:07 on Friday (October 5).

As previously reported, Adele has officially confirmed that she has recorded the them song to the latest instalment of the James Bond film franchise, Skyfall.

The British singer is set to premiere the track on her website, www.adele.tv, at seven minutes past midnight GMT (0:07) this Friday (October 5) and will be available for purchase immediately afterwards. October 5 also marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr No, the first Bond film.

“I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall,” said Adele. “There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul [Epworth, who co-wrote and produced Adele’s mega-hit, Rolling In The Deep] had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end.

“It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief,” she added. “It’s something I've never done, which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I'm sure!”

Adele faces tough competition from Psy, Rihanna, One Direction and Ellie Goulding, in the race to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. If the Skyfall theme does get to Number 1 on Sunday, it will be the first Bond theme to ever do so in the history of the Official Singles Chart (Duran Duran’s A View To A Kill came close in 1985 reaching Number 2).

Skyfall will hit cinemas in the UK on October 26.
