  • Born in Wokingham, Berkshire in 1979, Will Young was the inaugural winner of Pop Idol in 2002

Will Young is a British singer and actor, who catapulted to fame after winning the inaugural UK Pop Idol contest in 2002. His first single was a double A-side featuring Evergreen and Anything Is Possible, a new song written for the winner of the show by Cathy Dennis. It became the fastest-selling debut in UK chart history, selling 403,027 copies on its day of release, and went on to sell over 1.4 million copies and became the biggest selling single of the Noughties.

Since then, Young has become one of the UK's most-loved soul crooners, with a loyal following. Leave Right Now became a UK number one in 2003, while all four of his studio albums to date peaking at one or two in the Official UK Albums Chart. 

Young has also branched out into acting, appearing in the 2005 film Mrs Henderson Presents and in Noel Coward's The Vortex at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
