"Our first concert was one of the greatest we ever played and it was two years before we played another one like it. I believe we built U2 around a spark. We couldn't compete on that level and yet in 1978 we played this Guinness and Harp Talent Contest with all these professional bands and heavy rock bands. We came down and played after doing this thing called Paddy's Punk Party and I'd lost my voice. We were a shambles. But after that gig we had record contracts offered to us."
