WET WET WET

Wet Wet Wet are a Scottish pop band formed in 1982, comprising members Graeme Clark on bass and vocals, Tommy Cunningham on drums and vocals, Neil Mitchell on keyboards, piano and vocals and – until 2017 – lead singer Marti Pellow, not forgetting fifth, not-in-photos, unofficial member Graeme Duffin on lead guitar.

Wet Wet Wet originally fancied themselves as a punk covers outfit called Vortex Motion which wasn’t getting them anywhere so they focused on writing their own tunes, called themselves Wet Wet Wet after a line in a Scritti Politti song and performed their first professional show at Glasgow’s Barrowlands that New Year’s Eve.

Wet Wet Wet scored three UK Official Singles Chart Number 1s, including the million-selling cover of Love Is All Around that spent 15 weeks in pole position in 1994 driving them a bit barmy in the process.

Wet Wet Wet also had four UK Official Album Chart Number 1s, including their 1987 debut Popped In, Souled Out. Wet Wet Wet have split and reformed over the years, with both Cunningham and Pellow leaving the band at one point, but the Wets are currently still in operation with ex-Liberty X songman Kevin Simm on lead singer duties.
