THROWBACK CHART REVIEW:

Selected randomly by the current OCC regulars, haha.

Anyway, I bet a lot of chart-watchers were happy this week that 'Crazy Frog' fell from #1 & that it was replaced by both a legendary rapper & a legendary singer!

This was around the time where downloads were becoming the next big thing & physical sales of singles started to die out, but that still doesn't change the fact that we're seeing an insane amount of activity here. Six new entries inside the Top 10, all by different artists! You'd be very unlikely to see that nowadays.

'You're Beautiful' & especially 'Feel Good Inc.' stand out as my favourite songs from this Top 10, although it to see 'Wake Up When September Ends' drop out of the region this week!

Even with this chart being long before ACR came about, a fully sales orientated chart also meant that big drops for songs were fairly common for some hits, particularly in their second week! The two example that caught my attention here are 'Best Of You' (which has stuck around on the radio & in terms of live performances surprisingly well), along with 'Paint Your Target', which dropped 9-32 that week.

It seems to be that if you got some stability in 2005, you had a real hit on your hands, but if you didn't, your song would just crash & burn!

Then another legendary rapper the Notorious B.I.G got a #1 a year later in 2006

Yeah, no real brag rapping nor auto-tune back then! ;)

(Okay, there was some brag rapping, but at least it was more convincing in 2005 compared to 2020.)

rip to tupac and biggie, two legends in rap. it really was awesome to see the former at number 1, especially when the song was that good and crazy frog was dreadful. i was only one year old in 2005 though! :O

Yeah, I know a few people on Discord were worried that we randomly chose the week where 'Crazy Frog' was #1, but thankfully, you guys selected one which gave us a much better chart-topper! ;)

I would've been six for this chart, so we're probably a very similar age then. :)

Oh wait, I actually would've been seven when this chart was posted, as I was born in March 1998, haha. :)
