Released as the lead single from her second album GUTS, Vampire became Olivia Rodrigo's third Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart following 2021's Drivers License and Good 4 U. Co-written and produced by her regular collaborator Dan Nigro, it's a gothic pop-rock tune that builds to a melodramatic climax.
Lyrically, Vampire takes aim at an ex-boyfriend whose intentions were less than honourable. "And every girl I ever talked to told me you were bad, bad news," Olivia sings regretfully. "You called them crazy, God, I hate the way I called them crazy too." Accompanied by a video which shows Olivia literally bleeding for her art, Vampire is proof that revenge is best served cold – in a chart-topping pop song.
