Why Dont Call Me Up is falling? It deserves a nº1.
365 is a great song to get some top 10.
Dancing with a stranger is falling very fast... it deserves a nº1 too.
I am so tired, Sucker and Giant should be the next summits on the chart.

The 10 week rule . They should cut the song streams in half after 20 weeks, 10 weeks is way too soon!

My thoughts & observations on the UK charts as always…

- It’s a fifth week at #1 on the singles for ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi! This week, it leads by 11,000 combined sales & was streamed 7.8 million times.

- ‘Giant’ by Calvin Harris & Rag’n’Bone Man is #2 for a fifth consecutive week! That’s the longest time a song has been blocked in the runner-up position without reaching the top since ‘Galway Girl’ by Ed Sheeran around two years ago.

- ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ by Mabel rises to #1 on this week’s airplay chart, despite being placed on ACR in this week’s overall singles chart.

- ‘Someone You Loved’ also takes the top spot on the national YouTube chart this week, increasing 14.7% to 2.3 million views in the past seven days.

- STEEL BANGLEZ FT AJ TRACEY & MOSTACK – FASHION WEEK (#7)
So thanks to consistency across several streaming platforms & dominating trending, all three artists here have finally broke into the Top 10 for the first time today & I’m really not all that impressed by this. Despite the expected braggadocious commentary going on throughout the song & comparing this girl’s features to different fashion brands, the rest of the song is mostly a mess. Both AJ Tracey & MoStack have way more choppier flows here than I would’ve expected & that drippy beat from Steel Banglez doesn’t add more flavour to the song either. I can kind of defend the laidback melody, although it’s still too far back in the mix to really stand out for me. I mean, there’s nothing notably bad about this, but not a lot that’s good either. I’m thinking a 4/10!

- RUSS & TION WAYNE – KEISHA & BECKY (#19)
You know, despite me not being a huge fan of either artist on their own, these two collaborating still seems to make sense given what I heard on ‘Gun Lean’ & ‘Options’, but while I didn’t mind the former, the latter was & still is a let-down! As for this, it’s fine I guess. Yeah, the lyrics are just generic flexing & flirting, but get past that & the drill beat does have some appeal to it & Russ is bringing a ton of energy here, even if Tion Wayne’s part kills off the momentum a bit, although he does at least have some ad-libs that work decently. I’m still not sure if I can appreciate this overall, but it’s at least tolerable. 5/10.

- MEDUZA FT GOODBOYS – PIECE OF YOUR HEART (#32)
I really feel like I should’ve heard this song before now; EDM is one of my favourite genres & I’m surprised that there’s currently this club song getting a lot of downloads currently that’s gone unnoticed by me, especially when I’m enjoying it this much! I love the deep rhythm in the chord patterns & especially that hypnotic baseline! The lyrics aren’t anything outside of what you’d expect for this kind of dance track, but that combination of soothing vocals (even if slightly autotuned) alongside a pulsing groove & bright bass works incredibly well! If I’d updated my personal chart this evening, this probably would’ve made it in my Top 40 on first listen alone. As it is, strong 8/10 for this!

- GEORGE EZRA – PRETTY SHINING PEOPLE (#38)
I’m not surprised to see this getting pushed as the next single, since almost everyone I know who has listened to ‘Staying At Tamara’s’ said its one of the best tracks from that album… & I agree with them! Not only is George Ezra sticking with his usual soulful delivery, but he sounds like he’s having a lot of fun here too, which is the reason I liked ‘Paradise’ so much! It might lack the groove that ‘Shotgun’ had, but the addictive hook here certainly makes up for that. The content seems to develop with the song, starting off with a trembly & gentle approaches discussing fearing change, which builds to a simple yet powerful hook about how it’s just best to all stick together. The production is probably the key feature here though, with lively acoustic guitars, drums pummelling at just the right time & even husky pipes to really drive the dynamic into another level. So yeah, it had to grow on me in the past few weeks, but I really like this now & I could see another hit in the making here. Solid 8/10!

- On the albums chart, ‘Coming Home For You’ by Michael Ball debuts at #1. It’s his fourth #1 album in total, but its his first solo one to hit the top since his self-titled debut in 1992!

- The rest of the Top 5 is: ‘Singing To Strangers’ by Jack Savoretti (1-2), ‘The Greatest Showman [Soundtrack]’ (4-3), ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ by Tom Walker (3-4) & ‘Staying At Tamara’s’ by George Ezra (6-5).

- Looking ahead to next week, these songs could enter the Top 40 for the first time: ‘Better Man’ by Westlife, ‘Hustle’ by P!NK, ‘Last Hurrah’ by Bebe Rexha, ‘Don’t Worry Bout Me’ by Zara Larsson, ‘All Day & Night’ by Jax Jones, Martin Solveig & Maddison Beer, ‘Your Mrs’ by Jay1, three tracks from Billie Eilish’s new album (probably: ‘Bad Guy’, ‘Bury A Friend’ & ‘Wish Were You Gay’ at the moment) & maybe even more.

- Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you all have a good weekend! :)

Hey Piran! I love seeing 'Someone You Loved' stay at #1 for a 5th week, and with it increasing on combined sales again this week it's definitely not going anywhere soon. 8 weeks at #1 for it is entirely possible at this point. With 'Giant' also increasing in combined sales this week, it could manage 8 weeks stuck at #2, which I believe would make it the longest runner-up ever!
It's sad to see 'Don't Call Me Up' and '7 rings' both get thrown so far down the chart due to ACR this week, even though both should really still be Top 10 hits. It does allow for 'Location' to make a climb of 2 places to #6, though, making it the highest charting track from 'PSYCHODRAMA' and 2nd highest for Dave as a lead artist, also matching the debut and peak position of his feature on '18HUNNA'.
Speaking of 'PSYCHODRAMA', I decided to take a look at some of the reviews for the album, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it has an average score of 97/100 on Metacritic based on various critic's reviews. This not only makes it by far the highest rated album of 2019, but tied 2nd for the highest rated album of all time on the site, lower than only 'Ten Freedom Summers' by Wadada Leo Smith (which I had admittedly never heard of before) with 99/100. I also looked at some other albums, and 'thank u, next' was 5th for 2019 with 86/100. 'AJ Tracey' was #36 for 2019 with 81/100, and while 'Sucker Punch' was only #78 for 2019 with a score of 77/100 based on critic's reviews, based on User Reviews it was 2nd for 2019 with 8.6/10.
As for the new debuts this week, I'd say that my favourite was the highest debut, 'Fashion Week'. It's nothing incredible for me, but I'd still give it a strong 7/10. 'Keisha & Becky' wasn't really great for me, but it was still decent so I'd give it a light 6/10, 'Piece of Your Heart' would get a light 7/10 from me and 'Pretty Shining People' would be a solid 6/10. Nothing particularly notable for me this week.
Next week it's all but certain that Billie Eilish will have the highest debuts, with 'bad guy' currently #1 on Spotify and #5 on Apple Music. 'bury a friend' and 'wish you were gay' will definitely be making big climbs next week as well, though 'all the good girls go to ', 'my strange addiction' or 'xanny' could debut instead. 'All Day and Night' and 'Don't Worry Bout Me' are currently looking like the most likely non-Billie songs to make debuts.

Hey Gameskiller! :)
I believe you're right, since 'These Days' spending seven weeks at #2 made it tie the record for longest stay in the runner-up spot (before it hit #1 the week after).
I could definitely see 8 weeks at #1 for 'Someone You Loved' being a possibility (especially since it retook the top spot on sales today) although I really think 'Bad Guy' has a shot at debuting at #2 next week with the way thinks are currently. 'Giant' will probably move down to #3, but could rebound the following week.
I'm honestly not too sure about your predictions for next week outside of those for Billie Eilish though. 'Better Man' should be able to debut inside the Top 40 if 'Hello My Love' managed to enter at #13, while 'Your Mrs' by Jay1 is looking like it'll chart in the 20s as it's barely going anywhere on both Spotify nor Apple Music.

It looks like 'bad guy' will be debuting at #3, which is about where I would've expected to be honest. #2 is still possible, but I feel like it's maybe a bit too high. That being said, it has been #1 on Spotify since it released and just today took the #1 spot on Apple Music from 'Location', so while I don't think it could pass 'Someone You Loved', it beating 'Giant' is at least a reasonable possibility.
Yeah, you were right about the debuts, looking at the update. I was only really looking at the Spotify & Apple Music charts, so I didn't really factor in songs that were doing well on sales (especially since the iTunes chart I had bookmarked no longer works, and I didn't realise there was a new one until today). I am still surprised that 'Better Man' is set to debut so high, though given that it's not even in the Spotify Top 200. I also didn't spot 'Your Mrs' before, but that definitely looks like it'll become a decently big hit in the coming weeks.

Hey Gameskiller! :)
I had initially expected 'Bad Guy' to debut at #3 as well, but I think it'll probably be ahead of 'Giant' by the end of the week. The former is now dominating Spotify & Apple Music as you said, so it'll probably lead overall on streaming. If it keeps gaining on either of those, it could even end up ahead of 'Someone You Loved' too, although its a little behind on sales despite making gains there. #2 seems the most likely position for it right now, especially since it won't end up doing big things outside of airplay apart from maybe Radio 1.
By the way, the Kworb iTunes bars appear to be finally working again! Another thing I'm surprised with is that 'Piece Of Your Heart' is starting to get massive download numbers & the fact that it's jumped so high in the Official Chart Update. It's been a while since we had a deep club hit crossover like that, probably since 'Cola', but this might end up being even bigger.
Despite it only coming out yesterday, I think Ariana will chart with 'Monopoly' on Friday too, then climb by a fair bit in the second week!

Yeah, 'Piece of Your Heart' is doing really well, currently #2 on iTunes and #5 on Apple Music! It's only #28 on Spotify, but it is climbing. I can definitely see it becoming a Top 10 hit soon, which would be great to see.
'MONOPOLY' definitely looks likely to chart given that it's already #3 on iTunes and Ariana always dominates on streaming, and a climb into the Top 10 the week after is very possible as well. That being said, I was actual fairly disappointed by the track, especially after how much I love 'thank u, next'. It's not as bad as some of the tracks on 'Sweetener' for me (it's mostly the Pharrell produced tracks that I'm not a fan of on that album, sadly), but I'm not particularly liking it either, and I can't see it charting for me.
