I AM NOT PICKY but the new Justin Timberlake track so does not fulfil my expectations. It somehow sounds like a "cheap" version of Michael Jackson. JT has done soooooo many tracks (well at least to me) that has set the pace to dance music but not now! It´s not bad, it´s not good, it just is. It does not stay in my head playing repeatedly all over again. To compare, BACK, MY LOVE etc...Is it that Timbaland has lost his touch (is he involved?? Don´t know) But this single will not make it to number one either in the UK or US! That´s just how I feel about this new JT single!

Disturbed r at no. 34, but if u look at the physical sales chart which does not include downloads and streams, Disturbed r at no. 9

Listen, the chart - as we knew it - is gone. Extinct. Gone the way of the dinosaur, Top of the Pops, and BBC 3. Gone! The chart is just streaming album tracks and singles that no-one even want to buy in the first place.

Sales chart show a truer reflection of peoples taste. Prince has 7 tracks in Top 40. And 14 in Top 100, with Purple Rain at No.2

Typical OCC ---only 1 of last week's listed NEW singles Releases actually made the top 100. That being Kygo's I'm In Love at a very lowly number 99. Once again they cocked up by listing a release that isn't even out yet (AlunaGeorge's - My Blood) and listed 6 really obscure underground EP's by unheard of artists with little to no chance of selling 50 copies in a week let alone enough to enter the top 100 ! Why oh why do they bother?

please let someone compile an accurate weekly New Singles Releases chart (namely ME) and stop all these errors and listings you make just to fill some space.

Hi Paul, we believe are new releases list to be pretty accurate. We also include songs released on streaming services only, such as AlunaGeorge's My Blood was last Friday. We go to great effort to compile the list, we're not just trying to fill space on the site.

I would have loved to see the situation back in the 1975 when QUEEN released the album A NIGHT AT THE OPERA. If the charts were compiled like they are today I think that QUEEN would have ruled the top 10 singles chart. You know, nro 1 "Bohemian rhapsody", Nro 2 "The prophet´s song", Nro 3 "Seaside Rendezvous" and so on.....I have accepted the fact that the so called official singles / albums charts are not solely based on sales. World changes and so must we all. Luckily (well for me at least) there is the sales chart. I sooooo wish as I heard that QUEEN made many many more tracks than they have ever released. I don´t mean all that jamming but those tracks ready to be released. I wish Brian, Roger and John would do that. I hear that Freddie sang songs right up until the end. He wanted to. So why keep those tracks under lock and key? Anyone with me on this?

I really hope that Cheap Thrills can snip no.1 for a week, although prospects look against her. She deserves one #1 song.

So congratulations to Drake for a third week at #1 with 'One Dance'. Also really pleased to see how all the tributes for Prince have been reflected in the singles chart too - 3 re-entries in the Top 40 including 'Purple Rain' at #6 (and 3 albums back in the album chart Top 5 too!). Beyoncé also made a big impact on the charts with the release of 'Lemonade' and had 6 new entries in the Top 40! Congratulations to her as well. :)

This sort of movement in the chart should happen every week, not just when Beyonce and Prince songs are entering

I really like Hair. Its a really good song.

The cover art for Formation is wrong :o

But slay at queen B dominating this week's charts, her whole album is in the top 100!

How many weeks until 'I hate u I love u' is number one?

Beyonce overload! I blame the Conservative Party for this. Under Labour we had more variety in the charts. Vote 'maybe' in the EU referendum!

how would the government have any effect on this? people choosing to stream music, therefore clogging up charts, has nothing to do with politics. you're a joke.

Just some political humour to spice up the comments section! :P

Still no sign of UK's 2016 Eurovision entry from Joe and Jake even though it's being played everyday on BBC Radio 2.

hoping it'll chart after Eurovision, its a great song

Who do you feel that will win the European Song contest this year? It can´t be Sweden, that song just does not have the hit potential. In fact I don´t have any country this year for me to think that they will win. As I´m from Finland (no points... heh heh heh) Finland will not win this year because the song is just...like nothing. But any suggestions or bets who will win??

My hunch says it will be France but I wouldn't rule out Russia, The Netherlands or Sweden either.

It was played at yesterday's Lancaster Clubbercise class as the last track for cooldown....big mistake by the instructor after it's long reign in the top 100.

So is Ed Sheeran - photograph! Anyway, I predict Uptown Funk will re-enter in a few weeks, after Beyonce drops out.

D

Happy photograph is gone, and yeah, uptown funk hopefully 're- enter the charts.

Yeah, but 'Cake By The Ocean' is such a blatant rip-off it might as well be.

I like both Uptown Funk and Photograph but I admit I was a bit bored with the latter constantly in the top 40 when it was

Cake by the ocean might be no.1 next week!

I hope so but I don't think it wil

I think it will be between Drake, Sia, Calvin Harris and Beyonce for number 1 next week. I would like to see Cake by the Ocean get higher.

D

I don't think that any of the beyonce songs will even get in the top ten.

This has to be worst UK chart of the year so far. Nearly every single number 1 lasted more than 2 weeks and not a single female artist has lead the chart yet.

avatar

James Frain

2

It doesn't matter if they are male or female. Good music shouldn't depend on gender. I mean ideally Lush Life would be top of the charts for me, but in public opinion it wasn't as good as others, and it has nothing to do with Zara Larsson (praise be upon her) being a female

SH

Scott Harris

0

True, but there are some good songs by female artists that deserved to go number 1, however I wouldn't want Beyonce's songs to go number 1 because I don't like any of them from her new album. The only song I like out of all the number 1s so far is the one that lasted only 1 week: Zayn's Pillowtalk, which is another reason why I don't like this year's chart.

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

0

I agree with the first point, it explains why 2014 was such a good music (Selfie aside) but for the second point, WHO GIVES A $#!7! The only female artist song that deserved to go to number 1 was jess glynne ain't got far to go but that was a complete fail.

RIHANNA IS ALL UP IN THERE!

She has four songs in the Top 100 this week as well. :)
Wouldn't be surprised to see her at #1 next week actually because she features on the new Calvin Harris single 'This Is What You Came For'.

Rihanna´s trak KISS IT BETTER should have been the first single to be released from her new album! It is SOOOOOOO good! Anyone with me on this?
